My 550s are bad (too long actually) so I have to either put my 450s back in until I can get some 550s or let my car sit until I get 550s. Can I run my car reliably (well as reliable as a DSM can get) with 450s using the safc to compensate or will it cause the car to run like crap or break something? I have an Evo III 16g with FMIC, 2G maf, and 255 fuel pump.

Jon's absolutely right. Furthermore, you don't need to compensate for a stock injector, which the 450's are. I would certainly recommend more injector than 550's as an upgrade for an EVO III if you plan to exploit the full potential of the turbo at high boost (provided the rest of your setup can handle it.). 650's are a much better choice.

Be safe!

Thanks for the quick response. I will hold off on putting them in for a day or so, I got a magnus intake gasket coming from you guys at SBR...I swore the intake mani was leaking but after pulling the injectors getting it ready I can see where they did not seat properly.

I had to do it for a while. Watch your logger for knock and keep the boost low.

just fyi, I run 20 psi (creep inforced) with 450cc injectors on the 14b and have a pretty lean tune (see 7ish counts of knock at a little over 6k rpms, the rest is CLEAN) and my idc is 94.5%. I'd say my injectors are in great condition since they can run at almost 95% and not wack out and go over 100%. This is not a wise Idea and I dont boost my car often because of this. I NEED larger injectors and I am aware of this. Just to let you know that the 14b flows enough to require 95% of 450cc injectors at 20 psi. with how much more the evoIII flows, I would say you would probably see similar results at about 16psi. Since what I am doing is unsafe, I would suggest not going much higher than 12-13 as stated above.

Find a non-turbo 2.0 fpr, you could get a bit more out of those injectors. My friend sees 95% idc's on his evo 3 at 21-22 psi and about 11:1afr on 450's with the nt fpr.
