I am not sure if i have an EVO III TB and IM on my car or a 2G. I recently had an EVO III motor put it and i am hoping the guy didnt screw me out of the Intake manifold because i have heard that is the biggest difference between the two motors. if any one has pictures of the EVO III TB and IM, and pictures of the 2G TB and IM i will compare them with mine.

i have been able to find this picture which i think its a EVO III but im not sure.. i have not been able to find any pictures of a 2G intake manifold.

Check to see if you have an MDP sensor on your intake manifold.

Some pictures of different manifolds, in the first picture the 2g IM is on the right and the black sensor on the top is the MDP sensor. This came out of a thread about a Hyundai intake manifold that may be an upgrade for our cars so there will be some extra information that you don't need.

Thank you both for the quick responces and thank you mork those pictures are exactly what i was looking for..

:)

I will post tomorrow which type of IM i have, hopefully i have the EVO III

I doubt you have an Evo throttle body, considering the cable bracket is on the wrong side of the throttle body. If the nipples are facing the passenger's side, it's a 1g. If they're facing the drivers side, it's a 2g.

The intake manifold is either an Evo III or RVR. The RVR inlets were 52mm, which would match a 2g throttle body and the Evo's were 60mm to match a 1g throttle body.

I can get pics of all of these parts if you really want them.

if it is true and my throttle body is from a van, then i guess the rest of my engine most likely would be as well?

Does the 2G 4g63 have better performance or does the JDM van 4g63 Better?
:-( this is very depressing if i do have a van engine...

i guess whatever it is, at least it runs unlike my original one.

also how would i port the IM and how much do you think a 1G TB would cost?

The van engine that you do not like is a RVR engine and its like the evo 3 engine except for the Turbo it has TD04 instead of TD05 and some other minor stuff.

this engine was rated to give 240 horse power unlike our stock 210 hp so to answer your question yes its better than your stock one. plus the intercooler that came on these engines are on the TOP and not on the side and more efficent that our STOCK as well.

:hellyeah:

here you go, pictures from my RVR ported to 60mm evo III specs IM and 1gb TB install... hope these help!

2g TB on the left 1g on the right... it looks new because it was completely rebuilt and sand blasted.

RVR IM ported to evo 3 (60mm) specs and the coil pack as well...

evo III on the left, 2g on the right (you can see the MDP on top)

evo III on the left, 2g on the right... runners don't curve under on the evo III like they do on the 2g and the plenum of the evo III is longer as well

evo III on top, 2g on bottom... again, see the MDP sensor on the 2g IM?

Prime85-
That is an RVR manifold. I can tell because its sitting on the giant crack in my garage floor;) I threw away the throttle body that came with it because it was 52mm and actuated on the "front" rather than the "back". FYI an evo3 TB would be almost the same as a 1G NT TB. I noticed a nice increase over stock. when we installed it on coreys(Gofers) car we noticed a nice gain on the butt dyno again.

If someone put an RVR motor into your car and you thought it was an evo3, you should have done the research to be sure of what it was. Be careful, as long as there is this "JDM" trend there will be people selling you anything. do your own research before dropping hard earned money.
There are more differences than just the turbo. cams are different, injectors are different some sensors, and I think the CR is different. FYI, Evo3 is 9:1! stock 2g is 8.5:1

If you have a "jdm" 6bolt then this manifold DID NOT come on your car. Inversly, If this manifold DID come on your car then you have a "jdm" 7bolt

Saying "jdm" makes me whant to say "yo"...:barf:

Today i went to the mitsubishi dealer to discuss an idle problem that i have been having with my car. He had an EVO III IM laying around and said he had no use for it so he gave it to me!!!!! :)

Now i need to find a TB to go with it.

i went looking at junk yards for a 1G version of my car but i couldnt find one. They are all none turbo cars at the junk yards. where might i be able to find a good TB for my IM that is not that expensive.

Im so excided, whats the chances of that happening?

or would the 2G TB work with the EVOIII until i am able to find a 1G?

So then a 1G Throttle body would have to be used. I will try searching for a used one then.

Thank you all for the help. This site and everyone on it have been really helpful to me trying to get my car in better shape.

Thank you

This was given to me today by a mechanic at mitsubishi. My grandfather went there to ask about some idle issues my car has been having and he offered the IM to us, he had no use for it so he gave it to me for free. Here are some pictures maybe you can tell me if it is in good shape or if the TB will fit on my car.

Thanks
