So i've installed an evo III 16g on my first gen, my previous turbo was the 14b. It makes a totally different spool noise though. It's more of a deeper sound mixed with a very very very faint high pitched sound. It's of course very hard to explain in text. Just wondering if anyone else has also experienced this different spooling sound when they switched from their 14b to the evoIII. Thanks!

when I had my old gst the t25 spool sound was nice and typical, when I bolted on my b16g the spool sounded like a vacuum cleaner. N more high pitched spool noise, now with my new dsm the high ptch sound is back with the t25. Every turbo sounds different(i.e. 16g vs 14b vs t25)

I didn't have a 14b, but my EVO sounds almost like a jet turbine. I agree, every turbo does sound different with whatever your exhaust, intake, boost, IC pipe combo is.

I went from 14b to EVO III 16g and it sounds like a vacuum cleaner. I don't know if I really like it, but then again I didn't buy it so that it sounded nice. :thumb:

Will :talon:

yea since i changed from 14b to b16g there is a different sound. I like it though. it kinda sound like my friends TT stealth. I LIKE!

I just started my car with no exhaust, you can hear the whistle loud even at idle, It sounds crazy.

yea I had no exhaust on my car when i first installed it. I liked it a lot!! The whistle is cool.

Whats a turbo that sounds like an 18 wheeler? I know that'd scare the shyt outta the domestic f*ck stick that you're pulling on!! :D The 14b with a dejon intake sounds like a sharp hiss...almost like a vacuum leak really. But yeah...would a 20g or a mainstream turbo upgrade that we use sound like an 18 wheeler? That'd be tha shit!! :D

I've actually confused my turbo spooling up with a big semi or something. I tell you what, a huge ball bearing turbo spooling up is just plain orgasmic. :thumb:

Yea a dude that was next to me in a stang said it sounded like a plane flying by. LOL

HAHAH i had the same coment by a buddy i took for a ride. I personally love the sound of the spool, and the pull i get with it.

my evo16g has that jet engine powering up sound from 5-12psi then after 13 it just gets that deep, throaty, pissed off at the world sound. i think that balsy sound is a trademark of all mitsu turbos, ive yet to hear one have the jet engine scream at 20psi. must be a poopra thing. ROFL

that whistle is like foreplay though, it sounds so good you just wanna go balls to the wall.

ya'll are making my decision to go evo316g so much easier...i've heard so many great things about it...cant wait to get mine...so i can join the fun

i think it is based on how much boost you are running. my 14b at 10 psi sounds like a cheapo depot vacuum cleaner. at 15psi it is very loud.

I remember how my big28 sounded compared to my t25... I'd assume that's what the 16g sounded like. My 60-1 is loud as hell though. Like stated above, it all depends on your intake pipe/filter setup and your exhaust setup.

we need sound clips!!

it'll probably be hard to get sound clips because first, you'll only hear the spool while driving, and 2nd, most of us here have loud exhaust so you probably wouldn't hear the spool through a sound clip.

but anyway, the 14b does sound like a huge vacuum leak because it just hisses loud.

Well the T-25 has the highest pitched noise because it has to spin faster to keep the same boost. A 16g doesn't have to spin as fast so the sound is more of a vacuum cleaner. Howver, once you start boosting 18psi or more the high pitch sound/turbine sound will come back.

I had my GSX at 19 psi on a 16g and it was pretty loud... I remember hearing an e16g with a blow-through setup and it was IMHO the greatest sound ever made.:dsm:
