Evo III 16g turbo blew exhaust seal any good?

I have the opertunity to get a evo III 16g turbo guy says it blew the exhaust seal but has no shaft play. Can u blow the exhaust (oil I'm assuming) seal? And not have any other damaged internals? What rebuild kit is required? Turbo doesn't have a brand name just dsm-evoIII on it. I'm doing a mild build at 300-350 hp what's this thing worth in its blown condition?

If it says evoIII on it than it is a Chinese knockoff turbo. They are basically trash even when rebuilt. Save your money and buy a real mhi turbo or a holset.

i would say pass on that and just keep an eye out on the classifieds here to pick up a real evo III 16g because that sounds like a Chinese knock off

Nope, no "ebay" turbo will ever be worth it.

If you want to stay (fairly) cheap, get an mhi turbo. Used e316g turbos go for anywhere in the $3-500 range in decent shape. Let the Honda kids play with the cheap eBay stuff .
