Has anyone used the evo 9 pistons in a 7 bolt block? can you just drop them in the block and go, or do you have to tune it because of the change in compression i cant seem to find a yes or no answer. will driving it with the change in compression make any difference?

Has any one made decent power on those, im looking for performance and endurance also im on a budget so forged is not an option so i figure so the evo 9's are an upgrade to the stock pistons

The Evo VIII & IX pistons are lower compression in a DSM, By 1cc, the reason the compression is higher in the evo is due to the smaller combustion chamber of the evo head being 43cc where the dsm is 47

I have measured both is a 7 bolt block and this is what I found.

Found this to be a good read, it says evo 9 are forged where as the 8 are not

Wellllll.... Just show you can not believe everything you read, nor trust the poster.

Here again, they show how big a moron they really are about parts.

Yes the DSM piston is cast.

Yes the EVO piston is a fully machined aluminum

That is about all they got right.

Look at the pics, they even show the cast in ribbing in the underside of the piston.

Cast and hypereutic pistons have that ribbing around the wrist pin and under the crown, not a true forged piston Like JE, SRP, Mahle, Wiseco, CP just to name a few.

The main revision between the EVO VIII and the EVO IX piston is some weight and where they added a few grams of cast to the piston, Both carry the same engraved number.

No OP, why do you want to run them? Do you want lower compression?

i want something a little stronger then the stock 2g pistons , and the way they make it seem the evo piston is a better option since is transfers heat better and has a machined aluminum top.

cant i run higher boost with a lower compression and have bigger tuning margin. i need new pistons anyway so why not go slightly better?

As long as you understand what you are buying, you in good shape.

I just wanted to make sure you understood that they are not forged pistons, that they a kind of cast piston.

As far as lower compression and ease of tuning, you are on the correct path.

I would advise finding them somewhere else other than graveyard tho.

yea thanks, i just figure there stronger then the 2g and the less stress the rotating assembly has the more of a beating it will take.
do you have any other places in mind that sells the evo 9 pistons for the same price or cheaper, iv used graveyard before and didn't have any issues but there's a first time for everything haha
