ok, so assuming you have already removed the stock dash, step one is to measure approx. 2 inches back from where the evo dash meets the windshield, and "skin" the dash a little past this point.

Next, you want to carefully mark lines all the way across the dash, making sure it is exactly 2 inches from the front all the way across. After you make the mark, take a hack saw, saw-zall, angle grinder, or prison shank, and carefully cut the 2 inch section you marked off. Truthfully, a heated plastic cutter would be the best thing.
Don't fret if the cut is not 1000% perfect, you will see why it doesn't have to be soon enough. I didn't take pics of either one of these steps, because 1 im a little slow, 2 my phone died, and 3 it started to monsoon where I live last night and I had to quit. But if it makes everyone feel better, I did set the dash in the car before it started to storm, and it fit way better. I will also get pics with my high res camera, cause I finally found it among all the boxes while unpacking some stuff. If the weather permits, that is.

If you have the short shifter mod, its not bad, but if your shifter setup is stock, then its close. I'm debating on trimming the dash even more and making some different mounts to drop it back another 2 to 3 inches. But as far as the 2g goes, it will need a lot more chopping and fabrication to fit flush with the door panel vents

And if someone sends me a good short block ill make a very thorough write up :D
I hate riding a bike. I want my car back!!!

and greg, get a damn avatar!

Take some pictures of it from the back of the car. With the hatch open and the seats layed back so we can get a better look at it.

Im in for more pics. :hellyeah:

It cant be a perfect fit in there is it? Like around the windshield and a-pillars. And what about where the evo dash meets the dsm center console? Or how the door panel sits flush against the side of the dash when the door is shut?

Looks good, just hard to believe it fits so well.

Holy sh!t, i'm amazed at how good that looks and how it seems to be so flush! I was just thinking the other day that I despised the 1g interior over a 2g, but this... This is incredible! Great idea here. Now let's see it done in a 2g :sneaky:. Props* all the way my friend.

The Evo cluster auto dims when the head lights are turned on. That is, if it is wired correctly. Some model Evos do not have rheostats and the brightness of the dash lights are automatic. Running around trying to find a very definitive diagram was a pain. BUT with the help of a russian keyboard installed on my phone. Google translate through the phone then cross reference words with numbers on the web. A little math and,.... I got myself every car manual from 1960 to 2004. The Evo being one of them. :thumb: But I must not say how. PM me if you need anything wiring wise though.

Stay tuned for a complete wiring diagram for this swap.

Wiring details provided in the car's Journal here.
