Hello! I managed to get an Evo 6.5 RS2 LHD ECU (MR420994) and I’m trying to make it work on a 95 2G GST.
Currently I’m running on a blackbox 6676 GSX ECU and managed to get it work by swapping out the plugs and never the injectors. Runs fine with it since the cam sensor has the only inverted signal the old 95 ecu uses and not the crank sensor.
This time however, after installing the EVO ECU, I had 3 problems. First is a CEL that does not go away after 5 seconds, just blinks fast and gets back to its CEL. Number two is the fuel pump relay not working (But managed to get it work by swapping pins 8 (fuel pump relay) and pin 22 (ac comp clutch relay) just like what they do in EVO VIII ECUs (But I’m referencing an EVO VI pinout diagram and says it does not need to change that) with all that bs fuel pump relay is working now. Now Three, I don’t get any ground signal when injectors fire using a test light but the old ecu does. They have voltage though like 5v+ when not cranking. But when I start to crank the engine, fuel is now getting pressure, coils are giving spark, but no injector pulse. Switching to the blackbox ecu makes it run again, but with this problem it can’t make me sleep.
Thoroughly checked ECU pinouts for both ECUs and I’m pretty sure injectors pins are the same and even if its misplaced on the other it would still be giving signal. Is there some place I can look for especially for incompatibility like the crank sensor? Cam sensor seems to work fine since its giving spark. MAF sensor is 609 but has same pinouts from evo 3-9 even with different code like the 399. MFI relay is clicking after seconds I switched the key off so its probably ok.
Does the EVO 6.5 use the same low impedance injectors and do they use resistor boxes still? Should I be grounding pin 91 of this ECU since it was used for the NSS before. And oh I tried scanning the CEL with evoscan and no luck, no DTC stored using mut-II. OBD does not work it says a J2534 initialization error_failed. And lastly CAN I JUST USE THIS SOMEHOW SEMI BRICKED ECU AND FLASH IT WITH MY ORIGINAL DSM ROM? Same ecu processor type only with H3 and H7 differences.
I’m lost here I’ve been going through it for days. Hope someone could give a light. Thanks!
