I tune my 98 GSX with it. No ECU swap necessary. The Evoscan can supposedly only connect to a 98-99 turbo DSM. The 98-99 DSM's are the only ones with a flash port directly behind the OBD plug. They are apparently pretty close to being able to flash the 98-99 ECU's just like the Evo's. I don't know if you can hook up a 98-99 ECU though and have it work, but I just know it works on my car and my buddies car.

Do you have a link to any info regarding flashing at 98-99 ecu?
 
I was going to try this idea, but with an Evo III MAS instead. However, I came across this post, and instead will most likely abandon the idea altogether.
 
Ive heard of people rigging up DSM LINK awhile ago to tune evos, not sure if this helps you
 
haha looking for the opposite I think. Why would he rig up link to an evo ecu when he could have done it to his?
