Hey I just installed a 14b on my 2G, and i have an Apexi 3" downpipe etc...

My question is: Will the o2 housing just bolt right up to my 14b and my DP?

isn't the evo3 o2 flange angled a little different than the stock o2? i hear the dp has to be modified.

seriously? how so?

To get a perfect fit, as to not be rigged up, you would need a downpipe that accepts an Evo3 style o2 housing. But it has been said that you can "adjust" your downpipe to fit it. To me, it's not worth the hassle because it puts a lot of stress on your flex section if you don't mangle up the pipe to fit right. And this will cause exhaust leaks.

A similar situation was mentioned here.

I ordered the evo 3 o2 housing thinking it would bolt up to a 3" ebay downpipe... definetly does not. Anyway make this work with home depot modification or did you buy a flange from somewhere? Let me know. I need a few flanges for the test pipe I'm going to make as well. If I don't find flanges, I'm going to sell this evo3 o2 housing.

There are two "different" angles that cause fitment issues when using the Evo III o2 housing.

This angle is very slight, and isn't really a huge concern (the Evo III o2 housing is in the rear):

This pic illustrates the issue you'll run into with many downpipes when using the Evo III o2 housing on an AWD. Even if the downpipe flange allows the o2 housing to mount to the downpipe, the angle is so awkward that it slams the downpipe into the transfer case (Evo o2 housing on left):

rEclipserGST, I know exactly what your issue is....the bolt holes on the downpipe are too close together to allow it to slide over the Evo o2 housing. You can try to slot the two holes- even cut the ends out of the flange holes entirely then use big washers to support the downpipe, or simply sell your downpipe and buy one that will fit the Evo o2 housing.

A little-known fact is that your standard eBay stainless o2 housing has the same internal spec as an Evo III o2 housing (better flow than even a ported 1G or 2G housing) and uses a small collector flange that allows it to bolt to even a stock downpipe. Had you bought this instead of your Evo III o2 housing, you wouldn't have a downpipe fitment issue right now.

My 2c. The rear flange of the ebay DP has a wider bolt pattern that fits the Evo3 housing. So I cut that flange off since my cat is weldable and doesnt have flange on it, and then cut the flange holes off the upper flange and weld the rear flange on top of the upper flange, but I tund the pipe so it has very little to no tention on it

I noticed there was a size difference in the stud placement from the 2g and evo III o2 housing. Glad you pointed that out and actually took measurements. I guess I would need to weld a flange on the downpipe to make it work.

Side note: Ebay 3" downpipe deletes the cat. So anyone looking to buy an exhaust from ebay, take note of that. :thumb:

I have an Apexi N-1 and a 14b.

I'm found that RRE sells Race Down Pipes that come "with the larger EVO bolt pattern and is angled correctly for those cars running the EVO O2 housing"
