Hello, Im evo_kid. I have done a lot of work in the EVO ECU. I want to post in the Evo 8 Ecu In 2g Works!! to help this community. I understand i need 50 post to post there. So i need help either getting clearance or helping with my 50 post. I can help alot, as i have a great amount of ECUflash/evoscan/EVO ECU knowledge. I even wrote the two how-to threads on EVOm.net about ECU boost control. One is already getting referenced in the Evo 8 Ecu In 2g Works!! thread.

oh yeah, ill have my EVO ECU for my brothers 2nd gen GST here in the next day or two. Gonna swap it in and get to work.

I can't help you with forum permissions but any time that you want to add something to the evo8 ecu thread send me a PM and I will quote your PM into the thread.

Honestly the 50 posts can be knocked out in a couple of hours since you already know what is going on. Tell some newbs to go do a BLT, not to vent, and that they can't run XXXcc injectors without some way to control them.

It is flashable and therefore the tune on it can be changed along with other options. You can use larger injectors, directly affect timing and target fuel ratios, control boost directly from the ecu, use faster logging through MUT, and a thousand other things.

That may be true, but i wasnt trying to wait. but i dont think it will be a problem. look at at like 10. LOL

and on top of what he said, there is the Tephra mod, which makes it so you can have the check engine light flash on a programmable amount of knock sum and based on duration, also map switching (ie pump map and race gas map), NLTS, Valet and more.

It is flashable and therefore the tune on it can be changed along with other options. You can use larger injectors, directly affect timing and target fuel ratios, control boost directly from the ecu, use faster logging through MUT, and a thousand other things.

Also, there is psi based boost control, stock system is based on load, which is tight. But it requires the JDM MAP, which i dont know (yet) how to make work on the 2G.
 
Is the connector significantly different between the 2g MDP and the evo MDP? I haven't looked closely but the sensors at least appear similar.

I havent looked but I think it is the same. Besides swapping sensors, theres is a couple changes made to the ROM and it works. The JDM MAP sensor is a 3bar sensor, which means it reads to about 29lbs of boost. When you have the JDM sensor you can also log boost on EVOscan. and run psi based boost.

Also, the stock EVO MDP is only like 1.5 bar IIRC, which means it only reads 7lbs, which is useless.
 
I know I've read the thread that is why I wondered about the difference in connectors, IIRC the 2g MDP is only 1 bar and I'm not even using one at this point and I haven't noticed any issues with the evo8 ecu, I believe that in both cars it is only there to check for EGR function. I would love to go with JDM map AFAIK no one has done it on an Eclipse, if the connector is the same though I don't see any reason why it would be any different than on the evo. I've been watching GM 3 bar sensors on ebay and I plan on trying it if I have some money though lately I've been pretty tight on money and there is plenty more that I can do for my car before I worry about trying out SD or ecu based boost control.
