Engine sluggish in 2 gear

Ok, this just started happening recently. But when I shift into second and put my foot down on the gas pedal, the engine stops at around 2500 rpm and it takes a long time for it to get past 3000 rpm. It doesn't happen all the time, just once in awhile. Anyone else ever have this problem ?

the engine stops at 2500rpm? you're shifting pretty early aren't ya? heh. could be a number of things.. i'd start with the basics though... air filter, plugs and wires. have you tried any of that?

Could a simple tune-up figure out the problem?
