sluggish

I have a problem. my car runs real sluggish in 1st and second gear. it is like the turbo is staliin up or something. it works fine when the car is not warmed up but when it gets warmed up, every once in awhil it will act real sluggish in 2nd and sometimes in first.

Too vague of a description. Can you please try to be a little more detailed on your problem, then maybe we can try to narrow it down. Just post up a detailed description of what's going on...the best you can.

its kinda hard to explain but it is like the turbo is stopping every once in awhile. the boost guage still works but the car feels like a am driving a 2.0 AWD N/T. its like the turbo is struggling or something. As soon as i shift into third BOOM i get the kick of the turbo and 4th and 5th are fine. it is just in second most and sometimes in first. the car has been sitting for a year. i bought it and had to put a new head on it. it has new timing belt, balance shaft belt, and all my other belts are new. i havn't even ran injector cleaner through it yet, so i am thinking that might be it. I am thinking it could be the fuel filter or something too.

yeah, any car sitting that long, i would change the fuel filter at a minumum. Are you running the same old gas that was in it sitting all that time? Try some injector cleaner.

Have you checked for leaks?

Check the shaft play on your turbo.

Is the car smoking at all?

it has new gas in it. i havn't noticed it smokin but my friend who was behind me in a race obviously in his celica said it smoked a little when i really got on it. i have never noticed it and no one else says anything about it to me.
