engine shuts off when slowing down

Hello,

So I drove my car from nyc to syracuse and realized I had a small exhaust leak, so I patched it up and thought nothing of it. Now the exhaust leak is back and now when I slow down to a stop light or a stop sign, I shift into neutral and randomly my car engine shuts off but everything electrical stays on (my sound system, my headlights, my dash lights). I end up having to restart my car and then it runs fine until it decides to shut the engine off again at the next random stop light. If you can give me any insights I would greatly appreciate it. As for the exhaust leak I am buying a tial 38 35 mm wastegate gasket to repair the small exhaust leak since the other gasket was paper thin from tial and burned a small hole through it.

Sorry for the long post but this is extremely annoying and I would love to fix it asap.

Mine shut off too it was a loose vacuum line.

Good question. If you BOV isn't recirculated then this is the most likely cause. Otherwise it could be a boost/vacuum leak around the throttle body or BISS screw out of adjustment.

I made a adjustment to my bov and had a loose fitting line, a while back easy fix for me, keep us posted, here to help.

if your BOV is recirculated, and it happens only when decelerating to a stop. check your Mass Airflow Sensor, it may be failing especially if you "key " off, then "key" on and it runs fine.

try and borrow one to trouble shoot the issue if you can.

There are a few things that cause this. Like stated before me obviously exhaust leaks do this.

Your BISS being adjusted improperly can do this too. I had my BISS totally fall out a couple of weeks ago and it would die from it. This is a bit extreme but you get the idea.

Another thing that can cause it is your ISC motor not properly working. But you'd MOST LIKELY have a surge along with it, it does not always do that though because it could be failing in a few different ways. Typically it will surge before it will start stalling you out.
