Engine Oil Cooler?? Is it Worth it? How Critical ?

Hi guys Im thinking about putting a oil cooler on my motor as im finishing my rebuild on my gst? I know in 90 my first awd had in oil cooler on it. why did DSM quit putting them on? ... is there any size limit for the lines to be running to it? does it drop your oil pressure with one installed. Also has anyone know how much cooler the oil is with one installed? Any Help is great... Thanks, Larry

I have noticed about 9-10deg C in oil temp reduction(same driving conditions) after installing a cooler on my 7 bolt..

which one, did you get a 1990 oil cooler or an aftermarket larger oil cooler?

I read somewhere that the stock oil pressure is heavily increased after the balance shafts are removed, and I also read that if you install an external oil cooler that your problems would be fixed. Is there truth in either of these statements, and If so, can someone who has a 1990 neglect the fact that the oil pressure is raised when the balance shafts are removed?

the oil cooler in my car has been removed and a "bypass" hose was just put in placed. Car has had no problems ever since for longer than a year. Although my car does shoot oil up under the hood when boosting but i don't think that has anything to do with it.

I too am curious about this. I got rid of my BS and installed a HV oil pump (i know it's not needed, but too late) so now my oil pressure is ridiculous at HWY cruising RPM. I already got the 7 bolt filter housing in, and will be doing the external cooler, but was curious if if really would lower my pressure back down. Thanks in advance.

I know when I built my Integra Race car the oil pressure went down a little with the external oil cooler. I would like to hear about the DSMs since I just bought a 98 GSX
