is this engine worth it

hey everyone,
alright i have an '84 Mazda RX7 w/ a rotory engine. I was wondering wether or not anything like nitros or turbos could be added to it, since its got a different set up than a piston engine. Or would i have to change the engine out w/ somthing eles?

I'm not to sure about rotary motors but I did learn a little bit about them and from what I've read I think you do have to swap motors for a turbo because they have the same compression ratio as a piston car but minus the pistons

If it's an 84, more than likely it's the 12A engine. I've don't know if those engines can respond well to turbocharging, but if you do add forced induction or nitrous, one thing you will have to take a look at are the apex seals (small blades at the corner of the rotor). The stock ones in the 13B-REW don't take too well to detonation and when those go, you lose all compression. Who knows how well the seals on the 12A will hold up.

how many miles are on it? if its been tooken care of and you wanna spend the money put a turbo on it.

hey thanx for all of the input guys. i realy don't know how many miles are on it id have to check, it was my uncles car but the fuel pump wires got messed up and he didnt want to fix it so he got a different car. but that should be an easy fix. oh yea one more thing ive heard that if a car with a rotory engine sits for a period of time it woulnt start right up, and that you have to basically give it a rolling start. is this true or what?
