Really quick question here. I'm getting ready to pull the block and head out and am wondering whats a good spot to mount the engine leveler at? Small background info- I'm going to disconnect the trans from the block and leave the trans in for now. I'd pull them both but the passenger side axle doesn't want to come out the trans.
I'm thinking about using the studs from the exhaust manifold in the head as the 2 front mounting points and secure the back 2 with the bolts that held on the intake manifold. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I've ripped two 4g63t's without using an engine leveler. This is not to say that one is not necessary - or handy, for that matter - but rather, that my redneck ass didn't even know that such a thing exists. Regardless, I have found that hanging the chain from the hoist so that the hook is centered over the block and counting an equal number of chain links to each of the hooks mounted on the block works wonderfully. Reading your post, however, I'm curious: why are you using protruding bolts and ignoring those hooks all together?

The engine leveler I got doesn't have hooks on it.It came with L shapes hanging off the chains. I just started pulling right now so I'll see how it works out.

I just pulled my motor with the same leveler. I kept the upper driver side mount in and bolted the leveler to the mount. Then i got some chain from home depot and connected the other side to the upper tranny bolts with a bolt and two washers. Its much easier to remove it with the tranny. To get the drive shaft out I pounded on it with a hammer lightly to loosen up the teeth, then used a screw driver to pry on the top and bottom to get it to come out. Ive seen many of these motors pulled and believe me it is easier to remove with the tranny connected. Hope I helped and good luck.
