Ebay Engine stand and hoist

Don't know about the hoist but the stand with a shortblock on it was bending pretty good. The plate isn't thick enough to hold 1000lbs from what I saw.

They sell that stand at Autozone for less than the shipping costs. I got mine for 30 bucks and it works just fine. I have had it holding a long block with all intake/exhaust and acessories still bolted on. I would think twice before I would put a V8 long block on there, but for our cars it works just fine. As far as the hoist goes, I would just rent one. You should come out cheaper that way.

I like the last bullet under "Terms & Conditions". It states that

Ideal Paradise will not be liable for any incidental, indirect, consequential, or damages of any nature arising from the sale of the product.

So, if the purchase is over the 7-day return period, and your engine hits the ground because of shoddy craftsman work, you're screwed.

I am 99% sure its the same on I have (that I got at autozone). I remeber puting it togther and everything from the wheels to the bolt holes is the exact same as the one pictured.

Either way you can get one for cheaper locally as they are just too heavy to ship.

Find your local farm supply store, they have engine stands/etc for a good price, cheaper than ebay and better quality.

i got mine from autozone for a great price as well and it still hasn't been i am nto sure about any of your autozones but my price was 34. 71 exactly :)

I've heard 3 firsthand stories of harbor freight engine hoists failing. I bought mine at the local farm&fleet for $129 on sale, $200 was the regular price. Watch the ad flyers you get.

for the pirce you paid it has to be good i assume the harbor freight around me sells alot of knock of brands but for some people its enough.

i also made my own in a welding and fab class at my local tech center. well most of the welding my brother did.

Suprisingly that ebay one worked fine. It had my engine on there no problem and i even was climing around my garage as a joke and forgot about my block being ahead and jumped onto it. Then i propelled myself off and it was fine. Although it is ebay so i do use a jack under it when its on the stand. I dont trust anything like that really more so since its from ebay, but those were my results.

In what way?

Yea I would like to know also. I know a few pro's who do it for a living and use harbor freight tools and recommended them to me when I asked what brands to buy.

So i need an engine stand for my 4g63t rebuild, Just wondering if anyone has any experiance with the engine stands on ebay? Are they worth $50 bucks and are they cheap or do they work for what they are made for? ive bought alot of stuff off ebay that turns out to be trash and i was just wondering if these are worth the money.

Obviously im going to use this for my dsm motor, So do they even fit the 4g63 blocks?

Figured id ask, Thanks guys

I use an el-cheapo Harbor Freight Tools engine stand, and it works fine. It is very sturdy. It was a bit tight trying to adjust the engine holding arms to the small pattern of the 4G63, but it worked.

Yes you rent it out. Unless you have a friend that has one. Many places carry it. Look for equipment rental places.
