Ebay Engine stand and hoist

I waas looking to buy an engine stand and hoist on ebay and they are extremely sheap the engine stand was $9 and the hoist was $100. They both are for 1000 pounds engine what do you guys think?

probly wouldnt be a bad thing to buy since us DSM guys do a lot of pulling motors and such. Theyre not to expensive at autozone.. Something you could look into also.

It doesn't take many days of rental costs to cover the $150 for the Harbor Freight picker. Try Craigslist, too.

^ i have that one and it started bending before it even got the engine in the air. It was bending at the base. I think that material was too thin. I'm having a guy in our machine shop replace it with a thicker plate.

Seriously? I've pulled V8's with transmissions attached with my Harbor Freight hoist, with nothing bending.

I have a generic one like that as well & I defently haven't had any issues with it, the whole thing actually looks pretty beefy to me. Our engine/tranny is a joke for it, I too, have also removed V8 & tranny combo's with no problem & when removing the engine/tranny from a buddies doner Talon, the tranny was caught up & actually lifted the whole front of the vehicle as well & no issues.

My brother did his complete pull and install of a 400 big block in a 1971 Grand Prix and he used both Harbor Freight stand and hoist, nothing ever went wrong with it.
