Ok since I can't post in custom fab. yet here we go. Decided to remove all my emission parts. I have removed my charcoal cansiter and EGR valve, made a block-off plate, and have blocked up needed ports. While waiting on a cathcan I decided to move my battery down to subframe. With the room there i wanted to move my cruise control out the way. Here are a few pics of what it looks like after I made a mounting bracket. Made it out of 20 gauge steel so it wouldnt flex from weight. Now i have more room for intercooler piping!
Pics are off a camera phone will have better ones up when I get more done. Beer box is just for mock-up of small battery.

I'd rather keep the cruise control for now. I make long trips to orlando regulary and get tired of having my foot planted on gas pedal. Atleast for now till i no longer have to travel 3 hours at a time.

Can you guys give me some ideas of what I can do to clean up the engine bay a little more?

I'm starting to enter my car in shows, and its kind of embarassing when I pop the hood.

I've definitely made a great improvement though.

I always get ideas, but then when I pop the hood and go to start cleaning, I forget and have no clue where to begin. Like where can some of these ugly cables and wires go?

remove the ps and ac/heater components, remove the cruise control and do a wire tuck. painting the engine bay would make it look 100% better though if u want to keep all those things. also paint/powdercoat/polish everything in the bay down to the block thats if ud like a show car engine bay

You could relocate your battery to the back it will make the bay look cleaner IMO, can take off brackets(brake reservoir) and paint it, or polish it, STM(STM | STREET TUNED MOTORSPORTS | DSM | EVO | SUBARU | PERFORMANCE & DYNO TUNING) sells stainless allen head bolts in a kit for the valve cover :THUMB: do something with the wires (a wire tuck) try to tighten them all up together as you can, DONT PUT COLOERED LOOM ON THEM...please looks ugly to me, I believe that small things always help the over all pictures like the brake bracket, rad bracket, ect........hopefully these ideas can get you going

I don't want to remove anything functional. Power steering is a must. I live in New Hampshire, I kind of need heat (although it doesn't blow that well). It's already in the 50s here.

The allen heads won't work, that valve cover is off a Sonata. Instead of bolts like the DSMs, the Sonata 4G63 had studs all the way around. The holes are a bigger diameter than the head of the stock bolts (so I'm assuming the allen bolts too).

The two things on the firewall you could modify the bracket so they all fit on the same one, or just relocate them lower.
Taking the battery out sure frees a lot of space under the hood, just put in a good junction box, hell even show it off.
Ditch cruise already, make yourself a supershort manual cable instead of that daisy chain crap 1g's have setup.

You could be sneaky and get a blown HUGE HUGE turbo, take the wheel out of it and make it look like you have this gigantic setup?

I don't have that kind of money, and it's not worth the investment. I already have over 3 grand in the car.

For the most part, it's done. Now I have to put a transmission in my 02 Ford Escape, then I'm gonna fix up my GTP as a winter project.

You could get a non cruise throdle cable and run it under the fuel rail!!!

The two brackets next to the wiper motor, they can bolt lower, left one can bolt to the two 12mm bolt holes(no clue wtf they go to, just did it today on my gutted 1g). There's two bolt holes with an outset bracket off the firewall, clip the 'holding' bracket on the injector resistors and it will fit nice there.

But last weekend I took it to a show and got 3rd place in the Mopar/DSM class. There were over 100 cars there total. The funny thing is, the only preparation I did was take it through a touchless car wash on the way to the show, and use some tire shine on my tires and trim.

So I do stand a chance, especially if I can clean it up a little more. But I'm not gonna spend rediculous amounts of money that I need to put into my other cars.

Today I used some tire shine on the rubber hoses and Mothers Mag/Aluminum Polish on the aluminum stuff, made a big difference. I'll keep working at it when I have time.

Good work so far. When it comes to dressing up an engine bay it comes down to attention to detail. You have to do all the little things like stailess steel bolts/washers, silicone hoses, powder coating/painting, and detailing (cleaning). Also experiment to see what colors give the best desired look. Take a look at a picture from my own engine bay.
