I've searched, searched , goggled and searched again, yet I still keep coming up empty.

Here is the situation.

I have a 1G Talon and want to check diagnostics and log.

I bought a ECM v3 cable, thinking this would be a good way to run the laptop using an emulator to log and check diagnostics including sensors.

However, I cannot find any links to download an emulator that is compatible with what i am trying to do, or or directions on how to set it up.

Now I've read many threads saying they are running an emulator with their laptop however nobody ever explains how.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

What about setting it all up on the laptop and hooking up to the car.

As of now I cannot get the emulatir to hotsync to my laptop.

I have windows 7 and downloaded the PALM III SKIN ROM.

I open the emulator and hit the hotsync using the local option but it wont hotsync.

I tried running it on compatability mose mode with windows xp but it still will not hotsync.

Any suggestions?

Thats what I am currently using to connect from laptop to car...

My laptop will not hotsync to the emulator.

The ECM V3 cable works as I have been able to use it with tunerpro rt..but tunerpro will not run ddiagnostic s on you 1g which is why I want to use the palm emulator along with mmcd

Will try that but I woupd really like to.give the mmcd program a go with the palm emulator

Looked int the software that you provided with the link and it seems that TMO software does not work with the ECM v3 cablee....

So back tryng o figure out the palm emulator with mmcd.....

Well for one because.i just bought the ECM V3 cable....and a wideband....in hopes of getting things set correctly before adding more mods

Many people are using the ECM V3 cable to log and run diagnostic with a palm emulator...but no one explains in detail how they do this...

Plus I dont want to buy an outdated palm and buy or make another cable....when peopke have said they use the ECM V3 cable to log and run diagnostics..

If you value your time, as money, you'll have enough cash, and time rapped up in this to have bought ecmlink lite.
Why not message the people that use this method, and ask them?

does the v3 cable show up as a serial cable? If it does it will work. TMO only looks for a com port

My laptop will not hotsync to the emulator.

You don't use hotsync at all...

If you want to just pull codes, Might be easiest to try TMO. As long as you set the Port of the ECMLink cable to a Com port that is available to it should work just fine.

To get this working can be a bit involved

@MY1GDSM-Thank you very much for your input. I will try it as soon as I get home..

So the emulator should work as soon as the cable is hooked up to the car? I already downloaded the file mmcd and dragged it to the emulator screen.. also 8 am running the emulator in compatibility mode so it can work...I have windows 7 running it in windows xp on compatability mode..is th8s correct??

I want to pull codes and log if possible

Thanks

UPDATE

Still cant get the emulator to work correctly...

@MY1GDSM- If hotsync is not used then how do you sync the emulator to the laptop then to the car ecu?

I can open it and get on the mmcd menus but it wont sync to the car...

IT reads serial comm error

I set the mmcd on the emulator to com6....I go to the mmcd and it does not show any logging activity.

Am I missing something here?

@donniekak As far as ECMlite i am not ready for that upgrade..i have pm'd a few people using this but i have not gotten a response back..If i ever get this figured out I'll post it here so other people can use the info as well..I've been going at it with this for 3 days straight after i get out from work.....

Just want to pull codes. ..log..and monitor for now before add8ng mods...

Update- 11:37 PM

I tried the TMO as well and its a no go...I set the ECM V3 cable to COM 1 and when I hit the connect button it would not work...tried it a couple of times under all COM's 1-4...and it still did not work...unless I downloaded the wrong program...

On the emulator it kind of logs for a very split second....when I uncheck the pause button and it will actually show a few readings..however the check mark on the Pause comes back on its own immediately...

I think I've already acquired a few gray hairs over these past days dealing with this...if there is anyone who knows how to make this work I would really appreciate your help....heck at this point I'm willing to pay anyone who will guide me step by step to make this work.

Only thing I have gotten to work is my Palm and and Jackal from ds-map.net. Tunerpro RT doesnt have a great and simple way of pulling codes. You could try the buzzer test or use a dvom to pull the codes. TMO should work. did you set the baud rate on the v3 cable?

Open the Emulator...

Click the Screen somewhere and hit Alt & /

This screen should show up.

it's good to make sure the Link cable for best results is set to a low Com port number that is unused like Com 1-3 in the Device manager, Others will work though.

But, a lot of the old software doesn't have options for something higher like Com 6 et cetera as Pc/Laptops didn't have a bunch of virtual drivers just a couple physical ones...

Anyway just change the Highlighted Option to the Right port and if you have setup everything else as far as the software upto this point to get it going. That is all you should need to do.

I have the cable set to COM1 on both the driver and the and on the emulator as well..

What I did notice is that on the PalmOS have the 3.0 version not the 3.5.. I think I read somewhere that you need the 3.5 OS version to make this work....

I goggled the 3.5 version and it does not seem to be available..not sure if perhaps this is the problem..????

I took screen shoot of the settings on the Emulator so you could see if maybe I've set something up.

I also tried to hook up to TMO and and even though it says it connected after I hit connect several times...on the right hand side it will say LinkDown and the table wont list any values for anything...

The only thing that has worked for me was TunerProR/T but that was following your instructions step by step...

I think I have a bad O2 sensor and the temp sensor as well but untill I get this figured out I wont know for sure..
