I got some pictures attached. I am wondering if this would be the antenna connector ? I think this was connected to my radio before we installed the new stereo system. I had a friend do a couple of stuff on the radio before I took over because he got lazy. Is anybody able to identify what this is? It is under my car dash. My antenna doesnt go up when I switch to fm so I am not sure if its functioning. I have poor signal. There was xm sat radio I removed those compeltely. Maybe the previous owner passed the fm signal through there?

Edit : Do our cars come with daytime running lights? If they do mine dont work.

Also, I read about an LED conversion guide. would the same guide work for a 2G? It was applied on a STARION.

The oem antenna cable does not run under the dash and it's a black cable. That clear box thing looks like it could go to an aftermarket alarm. Our cars do not have daytime running lights. The white cable looks like one of the push rods connected to the hvac vents.

Would that box be obsolete thanks for your answers. Can I remove it ? Where would that black cord that comes out of the other side of the white box connect to. I ran into an issue. I programmed a remote (aftermarket) and it doesnt lock or unlock outside if the engine is running. Locked myself outside thinking i could unlock my car with a custom key fob. Is there a way to change this? Sorry for replying late. long shift at work. Its kinda annoying having that thing hanging.

The best thing I think you could do, is trace the black wire all the way to the other end, take a good picture to post for us, and go from there. If you don't have an alarm installed on the car, yes, the clear box would be totally obsolete and would be a great idea to remove it. Whenever I buy a new DSM, I look through all the wiring to see if I find aftermarket crap and pretty much remove it all and keep the wiring in the oem configuration. As for the key fob, it could always be interfered by the alarm component, but that's my speculation as a lot of people don't have their aftermarket alarms properly wired.

I have that under the dash of my car and I do have a crappy viper alarm that I've been wanting to remove but just didn't know where to start. If I trace the wires back from this would that lead to the proper wires to remove? I've been afraid that if I cut the wrong wires my car won't start ever again.

yeah i would be very careful pulling out an alarm, i had a car with an alarm when i bought it and was a pita to remove, good luck!!

I bet, its just really annoying every time I connect my battery the thing starts blasting off and also my remote to disarm it is on its last leg, when that dies out I dont know what Im going to do.

Like mentioned, yes trace back the wires. If you do this though and find that you are uncomfortable messing with all the wires, a simpler solution may be to simply remove, or disconnect the alarm horn.

I will get pictures tommorow. Are dsms supposed to Beep when you lock through a fob? mine does not
Regarding the stock antenna wire is it a black cable with a Mini jack in the end of it ? I have one not connected anywhere behind my stereo.

Yes, the antenna cable is like a mini jack. Absolutely clean up the wires, if you are comfortable with doing so. Many people shy away from wiring since it can be a little imposing. No, our cars do not beep with the key fob, nor to the lights blink or anything else. The only sound you'll here, if you listen carefully, is the sound of the lock actuator moving the lock rods. Beyond that, there's no visual sign that they locked or unlocked.

Perfect so she is stock. It is exactly as u say and I can hear the actuator. Dont really need to focus unless the engine is running. If you got a problem or wanna fix something you eithet get it right or break it more and in the process learn and do it better. Is there a wiring guide for the interior ? I have found one really good one for the engine bay. Maybe I should try and find a hard copy. True sleeper just the way I like it. Sneak home and nobody notices. Oh wait I got a loud engine and exhaust. Dang it.

Was this car originally sold in Canada? It's the 98 GST you're asking about? I don't think any 2G Eclipses were originally sold here.

My 98 Eagle Talon ESi, has factory (maybe dealership is a better word) daytime running lights. It also has factory keyless entry, which flash the park lights once, when you unlock the doors.

I don't have it running yet to check, but my 97 TSi also has daytime running lights. The control module is low on the drivers side, near the ABS pump, right behind the wheel splash shield.
