Electrical surging, almost dying?

The car is acting strange, it seems to idle okay, but recently it seems that it loses everything electrical, and it damn near dies. It only does it under boost, or when I just take off from a stop. It bogs down heavy and all my gauges go crazy and die, the car catches itself though. It acts as if the positive terminal is touching something metal, but I know it's not. A bad ground? Alternator? The battery is brand new. It feels alot like fuel cut, but with electrical loss. Also I have noticed via my volt gauge, that it doesn't hold a consistent voltage. It runs from 14-11 just driving. My radio aslo cuts in and out when I have it up to a loud level.

Any help is appreciated.

You could try pulling off the alternator and bringing it to a parts store. They should be able to test it and confirm or eliminate it as a problem source.

the wires to the battery,sometimes you can't really see it, check too see if the have any corrosion on them.pull them from the battery connectors and replace them, there a couple $$$. check all grounds??

Firewall to negative terminal is CRAP. Think that would cause voltage surge?

It certainly could. Grounding is a common source of electrical trouble. You certainly can't go wrong repairing it, even if it doesn't fix this particular issue. I would say start there and check as many grounds as you can. Fix them all and report back.
