Eibach GC coilover springs, 1 side welded?

Anybody notice this? on one side of the springs on the GC coilovers, the end of the spring is welded to the next coil down, it's only like this on one side though, not both.. yet there is no specification of which way the spring should sit..

The way they came in the box is with the non welded side sitting on the GC adapter, welded side to be on the stock upper mount.. this makes the writing on the spring upside down... but I figure I'll leave it how it was in the box.. I don't think it would really make a difference.. but I really wonder why that one side is welded like that...

Anybody else notice this before? or have any idea what it's for?

It will be fine, nothing to worry about. As far as which side is up, it doesn't matter. I just had mine where the letters where right side up.

I would actually assume that it is just the coating they put on it an not welded. Welding that would have no purpose, and would require the spring to be heat treated, which would increase costs for no apparent reason.

EDIT: So apparently they heat treat the springs after it's quenched anyway... but yeah, they're never welded.
