So, lifted up the rear of a 1g awg I have recently acquired to find that the spring in the cars Ground Control coilover installation had broked at the perch coil.
Fantastic.
Cant seem to get replacement springs and since I didnt originally purchase the springs I am not covered under warranty.
Since GC doesnt offer individual parts -- you must buy all four corners -- a failure in Eibachs manufacturing means I am out 600+ if I were to go the same route.

My question is, is this a common defect with Eibach parts? I have never personally seen a spring failure like this before.

I got mine used and have had them for over 30k and my buddy for longer and they are still perfecr shape how did they break were u driving?

I purchased a new perch and upper hats from GC. I dunno if they sell springs separately tho. They might not have individual parts for sale on the website. I had to email/call them.

Email or call. This past week I emailed and spoke with Donavan about getting replacement sleeves. I showed him what springs I had too and he told me new sleeves were 22 bucks a piece. He suggested I get two new rear springs at 64 dollars a piece.

Already was broken when I got the car (mpst likely) and just didnt notice because it was hidden behind the wheel, or broke when we put the car on the flat bed trailer (unlikely).

I shall be contacting them anyway, just wanted to know what to expect. Never dealt with Eibach before.

Lol not happening any time soon around here..
besides, this used pair is already broken. what is there against another used pair being in or close to the same state.

With a different spring rate than the other, or replace both..

talked to GC
replacement spring $64
shipping to canada $39
conversion 1.32ish
total cost: about $140cdn

so thats about 1/4 the cost of the entire vehicle itself...

You should be able to use any 2.5" inner diameter coilover spring.

This is true. I would use hyperco springs. Best coilover spring hands down and the same or similar prices to others. Eibach springs are not bad, but hyperco is the best.

You have to lose this attitude. You bought a very old used car that came with broken springs probably among other broken things. Most anything and everything you decide to replace will cost at least 1/4 the cost of the car and more. Next time, inspect thoroughly before buying a used car.

The only attitude being displayed was against the rediculousness of the exchange rate and how cross-border shipping is absolutely horrendous. Not something I haven't dealt with before but my most recent US purchase was the weight and size 3x that of a spring and four times the cost, yet was only half the shipping fee incl duty to cross the border. If only that were universal..

This also isn't by any stretch of reason my first used 25 year old car, nevermind DSM (2 previous 1ga and a 1gb) and my current 1ga was an auto auction buy in winter where you can't even start it or get under it back in 2008. I fully expect broken shit when its due to be broken. Whomever modified this last one really cowboyed everything. This has nothing to do with "OMG a broken part." I was more saddened that bringing the part up here costs more than the part itself and that a part that looks so new from a trusted name would be broken in such a way.

The replacement spring cost is entirely reasonable. The conversion and shipping is what made me laugh. I obviously wasn't clear on that.
Well, that and the GC site states that they do not sell individual components..
