What's up guys, I'm in need of some help. Just recently purchased a 2g gsx with a 98gst ecu. I have EVOscan working flawlessly, but cannot seem to get ECUFlash to not only read, but stay running. I have gone through the ceddy posts, and multiple other posts, without a resolution. Baiscally I try to read my ROM, and ECUFlash goes through its process. It's actually even completed the process to the point where it asks about it being an unknown ROM and how to upload it. But all of a sudden, ECUFlash shuts down. No error messages or warnings, just a Windows message stating it has closed. From that point on, it closes by itself regardless if I'm connected to the car or not. Even if I load up ceddy, it force closes. I then delete and reinstall it all.. And the same situation. It reads, then closes by itself with no warning and continues closing. The only thing I have not tried is a different laptop, being that I only have 1 in my household. Any ideas? I could really use some guidance.

P.s= I know I'm going to hear about switching to link... Which I plan to do.. I have tons of experience with it, but can't come up with the funds till after tax return.

Don't know what your laptop specs are but the one I use is strictly for ecuflash and evoscan I don't have any extra programs on it i.e. Games, torrent programs, media players, etc. my advice is to reinstall windows and make sure you install the correct drivers. If you don't want to go that route perhaps you should try an older version of ecuflash.

Thanks for the reply, Funny thing is, I got a free Windows update to Windows 10. I'm downloading it now. I'm really hoping this is the solution. Where can I get the later versions of ECUFlash anyway? Just in case.

I remember reading a few posts about using ECUflash on win 7. Some of the files need to be put in different locations compared to Win XP, I'm not sure, but maybe that is the problem. Check the http://www.openecu.org/index.php?title=EcuFlash to see what the correct install is. Version 1.42 is still the newest version.

Sorry for such a late reply. I got sick pretty bad and Christmas came. Just so I post a solution that worked for me, all I had to do was upgrade to Windows 10 and boom. Working like a charm. I had the files placed in there own folder under Windows7, but still wasn't working. Either way, glad it's fixed now.
