1G ECU question

So im kinda thinking my ecu is shot but not sure. I unplugged my tps and my mas and tryed to get a code and all i get is normal condition is it supposed to do that i figured with those sensors out it would register a code. oh and it doesnt run right now. it cranks but wont fire and its a 1992 eagle talon tsi awd gotta love the turbo

turn your key to the "on" position, If there is no "check engine" light, your ecu is fried in short. Take the ecu out of the car and inspect for capacitor damage as well. Let us know how that works out and we'll go from there

The caps are probably leaking in the ecu. Pull it out and take some picture and one of the wisemen will let you know for sure, it's pretty obviouse though you can probably tell yourself.

Yup if the caps are leaking you will be able to tell when you open it. It also usually has a terrible stench, such as rotten eggs or old seafood.

I just sent mine off also mine was doing the same thing i opend it and little oil leaked.

yea im going to try to get it done today. strip club till 3am and sharis breakfast i need to get the tools out and finish it and hope i dont pass out . im really guessing the caps leaked

ok heres what i got on the ecu i pulled it took it apart and took some pics the board looks good no smell like my tcu but when you look in right behind the connecters i have 1 diode that the top is burnt out its right next to c116 and c117 i got pics ill put them on my myspace its myspace.com/keoton ill give them there own album

Some caps look fine until you take them off to replace them, then you see the hole they left underneath.

Very informative! What can you use to clean up electrolyte that has leaked on the board?

The caps have leaked and it looks like a couple of the SMD caps have been broken off the board.
There is only one good picture so it's hard to tell.

yeah sorry bout that in a hurry. im looking at getting a new ecu and try it out. should be ready to fire after i get the new one crossing my fingers

ok so im still having troubles. got the new ecu plugged her in and she still wont start. checked my tps its where its supposed to be. i do get a code when i unplugged my tcu but not my mas, which is still weird. checked my coil from how the book tells me i have spark but its not a roaring blue its kinda dim. What else should i do my dsm is killing me

oh and my plugs keep getting fuel all over them any ideas. by all over i mean soaked.
