will my car still run if i put it back in? i touched it and it fell right out. the charred piece you see in the pic.

surprise. dsm's are beasts. apparently they'd rather cause problems than not run. if anyone can direct me in the way of a cheap used one, i'd appreciate it. til then it runs on a fried brain.

remember, try to find a 90 5 speed turbo ecu, the 91-93 will work but you have to swap a few wires around.

Right now it looks like that one has a short between the +5 and ground traces. It's somewhat unusual of C14 to short on it's own so I expect that C108 has leaked and caused C14 to short. It still looks like the board could be repaired but since I can't see the rest of it I can't say for sure.

If you decide to replace it you'll need a 90 ECU or you will have to modify the car or ECU to make both the ECU and tach work correctly. You can get the car to run with a 91-93 turbo MT ECU by releasing and swapping pins 6 and 14 in the ECU harness but the tach will act up.

In most cases getting the ECU fixed is more cost effective, unless it a real basket case, or you find a real good deal on a replacement.

that was the only part of the board that was damaged. there's a guy in town here that will do it for 225. he'll have it for 3 days. i found one in a junkyard for 400 and a 300 core charge. brand new ranged from 600 to 1100(mitsu dealer)

just look around in the classifieds here or ebay, yo should be able to fnd one for around $100. I have a 91 for around that myself

ebay didn't have squat. that's the first place i looked. classifieds are dead around here. also, i called every junkyard around here.(about 20) and nobody had one for a reasonable price.
