so, i have a 1995 talon, currently it has a 7 bolt short block with a 1g head, it's running the 2g crank sensor, and a 1g green lid for the cam sensor... well, i have the dreaded random misfire problem. this issue may have been gone over, i've been searching, but i can't get a clear answer, and i'm running on no sleep.

so my question is, what do i have to do, to run a 98-99 ecu in a '95? and using ecuflash/evoscan, is there a way to get rid of the random misfire problem since i'm using the 1g cas?

i have a really nice set of hks cams, that aren't drilled to run the 2gb cam sensor, and i'm not pulling it and having it drilled.

i'm not switching to this, just to get rid of random misfire. it's a built motor car with a 60-1, so there's a need to tune it.

please don't turn this into a "get ecmlink" argument. this is not about link, it's about ecuflash

This depends what year your harness is. If it 95-96 harness then you will either need to swap plug wires, swap the blue and blue/black wires in the back of the coil pack, or swap pin 10 and 23 down at the ecu. The choice is yours.

To turn off random misfire in Ceddymods go to "Periphery2 Bits (292)" and turn BOTH bit 4 and 5 to zero. It should be Code 300.

I'm not 100% sure about needing the ignition swapped, as far as I know the only incompatibility problems arise from the 2Ga CAS being an inverted signal. Since you're using a 1G CAS and a 2Gb ECU the signal should be correctly aligned already.

The misfire also may only be present if the CAS is not accurately indexed enough for the 2Gb ECU, which I could see since you're still using the 2G CPS for it's original signal. Since the 2G CAS is not adjustable, the ECU expects it to always be perfectly aligned with the 2G CPS. That's not a problem if you use a 1G CAS for both signals since the signals are both shifted identically when you set base ignition timing.

idk the difference, but i put an h8 into my 97 gst, i had to swap the inner coils with the outer ones and do the same with the injectors.

Sorry to bring an old thread back up. but to do a h8 ecu in a stock 2ga what exactly do you need to swap for it to work? I just received my Tactrix cable and am eager to put my H8 in. :]
