H8 flashable ecu in a 97

i got a MD346675 flashable ecu and was wondering what would i need to run it in my 97 awd talon? do i need to have that little white plug thats right next to the obd2 plug?

Nothing it's plug and play... To flash it yes you would need to wire one in to pin 79 See here

It's how the write to ecu mode is enabled to flash it. with a H8 processor(98-99flashable ecu) the power to enter write mode is supplied from the the Openport 2.0 cable to the connector that is missing on your car...

This Conector would plug in to that connector and to the Openport if your car was a Different year...

I dealt a little with ecu flash and open ecu software with my 00 galant...definitions to read and write options were still being created and tested but it's pretty simple...check out tactrix who sells the cable and check out the open ecu/ evo scan forums there is a lot of information there to get you going..
