ECO/PWR switch

Ok so there are 5 threads on this and not one of them mention whether the ECO/PWR button is held down (PWR) mode electrically or if its mechanical. When i push the button, it doesn't stay down, and i cant test it right now because my transmission and engine are being rebuilt. By the way, i just bought the car a few months ago.
And lastly, can i find one of these somewhere because i ripped the wires out of it accidentally removing the center console. I know these are normally on Automatics but does anyone know?
