No, they're smaller because the smaller turbocharger doesn't need bigger injectors. The turbocharger is smaller because an automatic car that has bad turbo lag would be very crappy to drive in traffic.

It changes the shift points of your transmission. It won't wind up as high before shifting in "Economy".

Get an owner's manual off eBay. Don't be fussy about year or make, just 1G or 2G. It'll answer most of your questions.
