Since there doesn't seem to be a TON of info out there on replacing the rear 6X9s in a 2g Spyder, I thought I'd post this.
I picked up a set of Sony XS-R6945 6X9s and a set of Sony XS-R1645 (labeled as 6.5, though I can't figure out how they got THAT measurement) at (cough/gag) Walmart for less than $100. Both fit the factory mount locations perfectly. The sound is way more crisp, a bit too much, than the SO tired stock speakers. Note in the pics below that my front speaker were not the original stock speakers. I replaced those with larger OEM Infinity speakers from the salvage yard a while back.
The rear speaker mount situation requires some consideration of mounting depth and magnet size in the Spyder, so I hope this will help those looking for a direct replacement.
