I'll probably get alot of crap for posting this, but so be it...

All I have been doing for the last 9 months is looking for a 2G Eclipse GSX forsale. Now, if you all haven't seen my current posts, a 14 year old, can't get "that modded GSX down the street", ok?

Now, my state in which I live, has next to nothing for reasonable 2G GSXs or any 2G Eclipses for the matter...

__________________________________________________________________
Now that I have stated a few things here is my main question:

Why isn't there a DECENT 2G Eclipse GSX forsale anywhere? I don't know a sane parent of a 14 year old willing to pay 8K for a 14-10 years old, with 1xx,xxx miles and some with 2xx,xxx miles. This is KIND of a rant but I mean, come on... Anyway, this will get interesting I bet...:banghead:

Be blessed.

IDK what to do anyore... I'm about to go 1g GSX... Because it's getting a little annoying.. I mean, I went to drivers ed and while I was there, the owner of the silver GSX posted about sent me the VIN and such, this was at 11:00AM... At 3:00PM, I got a message saying it was sold...

Same situation every time...

Man this get's annoying..

We spent a lot of time looking using Ebay, Craigslist, and other local used car sources like AutoTrader.com. My son was trying to find a $2,000 GST that
was not beat up too bad.

Eventually we found a 96 GSX that had transmisison problems and non-working sunroof for a listed price of $3,000 , we bought it for $2,700.
Has 121,000 miles and already had the timing belt and water pump done.

$100 in manual transmisison parts and $100 for sunroof parts and we are now
complete and on the road.

Cruise control, tinted windows, leather seats, infinity sound system with
newer stereo.

I think we lucked out. The trans could have been a $1,000, the sunroof as
much as $300.

The paint on steel is excellent. But we will have to repaint the plastic.
Bumpers, lower body kit, mirrors. Probably another $100 for 1 quart paint
and clear top coat.

Now that we have finished this we are looking for a 99 GSX white on tan.

Hoping to sell the silver on grey 96 and move up.

Thanks to this forum we were able to learn a lot. Thanks everybody.

The Dad

I was in the process of getting a 1997 GSX but the dealer sold it before we could get it, (like an @$$)....

Even if I were interested, I wouldn't go to Cali... I mean, not for a shell.. Sorry....

The car dealer in your picture is 6 miles from my house........... I would NEVER buy a car from them! They buy slavaged vehicles out of state and then repair them for the least $$$ possible and dump them into the local market. Rarely are they safe, reliable or running right when sold.

I did not know that. Thanks for the heads up! Appreciate it.

Yeah see, my dad isn't willing to drive out of state.

He want's one that is RUNNING so he doesn't have to fix it (whenreally, it would be my car anyway...)..

He thinks Talons are cheap looking, and too hard to get parts for...when they really aren't, and even if they were, the Eclipse sares like 100% of the SAME parts...

IDK... Looking for a 2g GSX in Minnesota, with less then 180.xxx miles, and not rusted... Not easy..

Sometimes I wonder if this is even a fight worth fighting for.. :ohdamn:

Also there is a stock 2ga white Talon TSI around my town that I was TOLD is forsale.. Not 100% on the price, where to find it, and if its AWD...

Update; I have YET to go check out the Talon at my cousin's parent's (I believe). The price for that white 2ga was like $5,000. But all of this information is usless, why you ask?

I got the GSX in my avatar a year and half ago from a guy in Monticello!!! Good thing I got it when I did, didn't even know they were that rare when I got it. Traded my 99 Durango for it and he paid me 500. Was leaking oil but I wanted to rebuild the car I got anyway. Best of luck to you man.

Man im not trying to be mean at all or anything but a gsx is just not a 15 year olds car, its like giving a 15 year old a 70 roadrunner, you just dont do it. You dont mod the hell out of them unless its for the better of the car and you dont drive the hell out of them, thats what the base models are for. Gsx's have become cars that are just there to be cherished. Buffed every few months, garage kept, and only taken out on the weekends. I honestly think that every dsmer should have to go through having a 420a so they learn how to respect a dsm. Nothing against you man, thats just imo.

Chicago usually has a few to choose from, and I visit Minne often I always see 2g's for sale on craigslist there. Glad you found TWO! Hooray to you..

But You must have been looking in the wrong places..
