I'll probably get alot of crap for posting this, but so be it...

All I have been doing for the last 9 months is looking for a 2G Eclipse GSX forsale. Now, if you all haven't seen my current posts, a 14 year old, can't get "that modded GSX down the street", ok?

Now, my state in which I live, has next to nothing for reasonable 2G GSXs or any 2G Eclipses for the matter...

__________________________________________________________________
Now that I have stated a few things here is my main question:

Why isn't there a DECENT 2G Eclipse GSX forsale anywhere? I don't know a sane parent of a 14 year old willing to pay 8K for a 14-10 years old, with 1xx,xxx miles and some with 2xx,xxx miles. This is KIND of a rant but I mean, come on... Anyway, this will get interesting I bet...:banghead:

Be blessed.

wow the eclipse nin m y avatar has been for sale for almost 6mos 98k miles not a single problem for 5500 many mods pm me im in ne iowa

it's called the art of haggling, if your good at it you'll get a car for what you want to pay for it. I will admit I am a lowballer at times, other times I over pay because I want something so bad and someone is trying to buy it at the same time as me, but many of times something that has been posted for sale at 4k I've gotten for 1.5k, money talks B.S. walks...

pretty sure if you bring a decent amount of money and put your game face on then you'll drive away with a gsx.

I just picked up a 2g eclipse n/a, and was looking for about a month and a half for one or a GSX. Well I got one that someone wanted 3.5 thousand for, and I took a look at it, and the only problems were it needs a new headgasket and the battery needs to be mounted back in so it doesn't hit and fry the ECU. Well I talked the person all the way down to $1500, by discussing the few problems with it and the broken front bumper, and it seems that when people notice that their car had problems they didn't know about... They are willing to go for A LOT lower.

Most DSMs you find from private sellers will have SOMETHING wrong with it, and this can be used as a tool of negotiation to your advantage. You need to make sure that you pick out the problems and let THEM name a price first, then you can keep haggling down, and it works perfectly everytime. But hey, if you find a perfect DSM with nothing wrong with it at all, then it MAY be worth the money that they are asking.

P.S.- Make sure you are not suckered into paying for the "new" mods they put in. This was something my seller tried doing. Saying "It only has 2,000 miles on the CAI and Exhaust." I just told em I wasn't paying more than a quarter of the original price if even that. They seem to notice that the mods only matter to the die hard enthusiast and nobody is going to pay full retail added onto a used car for a USED mod.

Hope this helps!

Skipping on the whole youre 14, buy a beater rant...Ok, one thing. My first beater what my best car ever. I jumped it, crashed it, learned to work on cars with it, used it as a back stop for a 1/4 pipe, became a landing zone when falling off back of said 1/4 pipe, hood used as prop for manualling over, fenders used for disasters...so on and so on... Best first car experiences comes from learning on a fun POS, RWD 76 Corolla FTW.

Youre just not in the right circles apparently. I could find half a dozen 2g AWDs for ~5k in a couple days if I tried. Hell, Im selling my 95 AWD, 101k with a build motor, EvoIII turbo, and basic mods to a buddy for $5500 just to get rid of it.

The 2g I just picked up is my first car, and honestly, I think it will be a great first car. I'm sure within the next year Ill learn how to fix many things the hard way by myself. I have been in and out of my dad's mechanic shop all my life though, so I may be a little better off. But what is the driving age in Minnesota? 14?

The only reason you can't find a nice one is because no-one want to sell his gsx when it's in good shape ! Peoples I know sold there car because they don't want to put money in them anymore ...

Will die with or in my Talon TSi for sure.

WTF!! 14 with a gsx? id be pissed :banghead: im 17 going on 18 here pretty soon and i have looked for a decently priced gsx even non running and they are still pretty expensive. at this point id take any 2g gsx running or non running i could use a good project ive ran outta things to do. so if anyone has a gsx running/non running for sale close by cough cough ;)

I found a guy trying to get rid of a 97 GSX because it wasn't running right. But the car's body was flawless with no rust and only a few door dings. He was still asking 4k for it so i offered him my 99 Durango with 120k miles. Everyone that offered money or a trade to him was lowballing him so he took my trade and still gave me 500 since i pointed out a few things wrong:sneaky:

I drove to Coloumbus, Ohio.... a 7 hr trip for me to pick up my GST. The turbo models are hard to come by...and with low miles. Mine had 56k and i paid 6500... i got it for a steal basically, i probably shoulda paid close to 8k... also a rebuilt tranny after a couple months. (had a warranty)

I also live in MN and i have been looking up GSX's for a buddy that is going to buy one soon. (Just waiting for his signing bonus) And i found a couple of them the past few weeks that are located in MN. They aren't perfect but as stated above, people want to sell them because they dont want to throw more money into them. If your willing to spend some money on fixing it up then there are a few around that are worth investing into.

They aren't that rare , Unless you dont know where to look. I have 7-8 2G GSX's right now. I would love for someone to come buy one or more off of me, But I guess I need to advertise them forsale, First... Ha ha.

Are you saying your 14? I rarely sell a car to anyone that is under 18, Or needs to bring a parent to see the car and have them pay for it. Too much hassle, And not even worth a sale in my opinion.

well hey! im not 14 :hellyeah: and i would love to take one or two of the 7-8 gsx's you got :thumb:

I searched for 7 months or some shit and eventually bought out of state. You just have to branch out.
I called the owner before he even knew the ad was out. I was checking listings and websites multiples times a day, everyday. I eventually hit the jackpot. Keep playing.

Whatever you mean by "circles".....

I believe liscense age is 16. Permit age is 15.... I'll be 15 here in a few weeks so....NOT really a whole lot of time....

I looked for over a year on craigslist, autotrader, cardomain, the classifieds here, and ebay before I found my gsx.

Yeah see, that's not even cool. How can one even get into the mindeset to think that JUST BECAUSE, not for any other reason, but, JUST BECAUSE a person is under 18, there is a problem with selling them s certain car? I just can't get it. If you "get yours" what's the problem?

It's just...people like that, tick me off....

Im michigan i see them weekly for 3k.. I paid 4.4k for mine with brand new paint and 94k.. Craigslist is where i find them LOL.. I bought my 90 tsi for 250 bucks and a turbo and ecu later it ran.. There was a TSi in detroit for 300 bucks because it wouldn't run right and he is sick of it LOL... That is very common.. There is a 98 gsx with 99k and he wants 2k for it because the timing belt snapped... Its well worth the 500 to fix it..

Well I am glad you live somewhere where you can get one so cheap... Sadly, for me, not the case.

One thing that upsets me is, some people DON'T get how I can't find one.. If you KNEW where I lived, you would understand... But even then........ IDK

Well, just because I felt like it, I did some looking up.

Now, since my dad is a registered car deal in the state of Minnesota, I know of one company he uses for car prices, they are spot on. The companies name is NADA.....

Now I went to New Cars, Used Cars, Blue Book Values & Car Prices - Kelley Blue Book AND New Car Prices, Used Car Values, New Car Reviews & Car Buying Guides - NADAguides.com Official Site.

The model we will be looking at is a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, 50,000 miles EXACT, ALL accessory boxes CHECKED. Now here are BOTH sites amounts:

Fair condition: kbb said $4,655, NADA said $4,862

Good condition: kbb said $5,180, NADA said $5,712

Excellent condition: kbb said $5,605, NADA said $6,412....

NADA ALSO said, "clean retail" (all boxes checked IE accessories, 50,000 miles), would be $8,537.

Let's go off that.... :hmm:

found mine on craiglist, 20 miles away,'95 gsx, bone stock. looked at it on a saturday, the guy drove it TO ME on tuesday, 1900, needed a clutch. 160,000 miles. widen your search on craigslist.

I really don't know know how to reply to that... I have looked in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and even Wisconsin I believe...?

I was in the process of getting a 1997 GSX but the dealer sold it before we could get it, (like an @$$)....

I do not think that car is a 97'.

: that spoiler only came on 95-96 turbo and n/t models, And 97-99 turbo models. (could have been installed, But I doubt it).

The front bumper was definatly either put on, Or re-painted. The piece right above the hole in the front, Should be black. That is red.

The fog light bezel's are missing, Along with the drivers side bumper ''duct-cover''. Can't tell if the 97-99 fog lights are or are not, Installed.
