I'll probably get alot of crap for posting this, but so be it...

All I have been doing for the last 9 months is looking for a 2G Eclipse GSX forsale. Now, if you all haven't seen my current posts, a 14 year old, can't get "that modded GSX down the street", ok?

Now, my state in which I live, has next to nothing for reasonable 2G GSXs or any 2G Eclipses for the matter...

__________________________________________________________________
Now that I have stated a few things here is my main question:

Why isn't there a DECENT 2G Eclipse GSX forsale anywhere? I don't know a sane parent of a 14 year old willing to pay 8K for a 14-10 years old, with 1xx,xxx miles and some with 2xx,xxx miles. This is KIND of a rant but I mean, come on... Anyway, this will get interesting I bet...:banghead:

Be blessed.

I do not think that car is a 97'.

: that spoiler only came on 95-96 turbo and n/t models, And 97-99 turbo models. (could have been installed, But I doubt it).

The front bumper was definatly either put on, Or re-painted. The piece right above the hole in the front, Should be black. That is red.

The fog light bezel's are missing, Along with the drivers side bumper ''duct-cover''. Can't tell if the 97-99 fog lights are or are not, Installed.

It WAS repainted I know that for sure.... I was wondering that same thing with the spolier..... I was thinking, that is, if we were to go buy it, I would get on my hands and make sure it was a GSX because I was doubting it myself...

IN all honest opinion I don;t think a 14 year old should be having a gsx or gst for a first car. Im just turning 18 in 2 weeks and i just got my first dsm (95 tsi awd) And this thing scare's the shit out of me. Sure thier not super car's but A 14 year old with a car that does 0-60 in what 5.5 seconds and will do well over 100mph. Hell You have 2 year's to wait. Why are you looking for a car now. It's just going to sit there and by the time you get your license you'll need new seals for the drivetrain, new battery, new tire (dry rot), The car will have mold built up where ever you touch (i.e the steering, wheel shifter, door's, radio, heater knobs. You'll also have a new habitat for mice. Not a very smart Idea. Wait until your almost 16 and get a N/T dsm and mod the hell out of that until you cant anymore. Than get a gst or gsx. Or tsi or tsi awd. But from a little personal experience your not going to want to have a car just sit thier until you have your license. Not a very good idea.

Also could have been a 95-96 turbo car with 97+ body panels (headlights/bumpers/sideskirts), And they just never replaced the spoiler being they would need to shave 3 holes in each 1/4 panel, have holes in the rear hatch, and then re-spray the car.

He is ready to get his permit.

This car is perfectly safe for him, Just like any other car, For anyone in the world. Your foot controls how fast you go. It is not like you are going to get into the car, And the car is just going to take you to light speed. This is not KIT from knight-rider. It's a normal car.

On top of that, Being the car is AWD, It will also be safer for him, In all weather conditions, Then a fwd/rwd vehicle.

Giving advice to buy a n/t dsm and ''mod the hell out of it'', Then buy a turbo car is the worst advice ever. Not only is it a waste of time, It is a waste of money. He could have bought a few gsx's by that time.

Yeah see, that's not even cool. How can one even get into the mindeset to think that JUST BECAUSE, not for any other reason, but, JUST BECAUSE a person is under 18, there is a problem with selling them s certain car? I just can't get it. If you "get yours" what's the problem?

It's just...people like that, tick me off....

1st- Your 14 year's old you might think your ready for a gsx or gst. You don't understand the price of these car's. Im almost 18 I have to be under my dads insurance and he insures my car under his name But im a driver on his policy. Insurance on these is expensive. WHose going to be paying for your insurance.

2nd- WHy do you need the car now? Your not of legal driving age yet what's the point of owning a car you can't drive sure you can say oh im going to fix it up and all this and that. No no, not a good idea.

3rd- DO your parent's approve of this? Are you one of those kid's that say's your going to take care of everything and your parent's end up paying fo rit in the long run?

4th-Im not trying to put you down but who say's your ready for a awd turbo charged car? Or are you jsut assuming you can drive?

In my opinion your not ready. Your putting people down who are just trying to help you. :toobad:

Well on a local forum there was this guy who sold his GST to a 16 year old kid and within a week he had wrecked it killing his little sister. When the cops looked at the speedo it was stuck on 120 so he was at least doing that when he wrecked it. The previous owner called the family to give them his best and the mother cussed him out saying how could you sell a car like that to a kid. She herself was the one with the son when he bought it.

Im just saying I can see how he doesnt sell to "kids" (and if your under 18 dont take that the wrong way). Just their are more immature about cars like this and tend to feel more invincible.

In all honest fact, your opinion odesn't matter. Just because you didn't get what you wanted at the same age as me isn't my problem. And as far as going from a GSX to a NA 420a powered, you can d@mn near forget it.... By the time I'm 16 ( only one year away), 2g GSX's will be getting harder to find.

And I'm 14, I can't drive the car yet anyway... So, a 14 year old wouldn't be driving the car, because I'll be driving it when I'm 15 (depending when I get my permit)...

And it will sit in a storage garage for less then a year because I don't plan on partking it until I'm 16 anyway. LOL

And being I live in Minnesota, we have this thing called snow, and FWD, N/A Eclipse would be BAD.... Anyway....

Oh, and if you need me to go on about your statement I just replied to, I can do that as well. :)

Being a teenager my self I know the temptation's of going fast. DO we really need another young teen killing themself and other's because thier parent's bought them a car they thoguht was "safe". Of course these car's are safe they have awesome build quality. But he will be in contorl with no adults around and maybe some time's friend's. At his age peer pressure was never an issue?

No, Again. It all depends on the person.

Just like when having a baby. A 16 year old mother/father can be more capable of raising the new-born then a 30+ year old mother/father. They can also act more mature/responsible aswell.

Same goes for this situation. It depends on the person, Not the car.

A gsx is just like any other car. YOU choose the speed you go, Not the car.

I see what everyone is saying though, Because I completly understand. It is more likly that a younger kid in one of these cars will get in alot of trouble, or end up injured and or killed behind the wheel because of wreckless driving.

I just do not think it's right to stereotype only based on what the "other" kids this age are doing.

I sell ALOT of these cars (a few, Every single month). I warn everyone that comes with their parents, Just how dangerous the car ''could'' be, if neglected.

I just sold a 95' gsx last nite, To a 17 year old kid, Who came with his father. The car is a fully built 6-bolt swapped car with every bolt on out there. I removed the MBC and have the boost at stock 9-10psi. I GAVE his dad the MBC with directions, And recommended that they should both get useto the car on stock boost, And see the way it reacts and handles, Before ANYTHING. Once they are comfortable with the car and their mindset on driving it, Then they can install the boost controller and turn the car back into the complete animal that it is.

So I do understand, And I'm not taking EITHER side. I'm just basing my opinions off of personal experiences.

I have sold to young kids in the past, Aswell. Some good, Some not so good. Either wrecked/blown up/damaged mechanically. The blame then always comes back to the seller, For some reason. When in reality, The seller had nothing to do with any of it.

I bought my n/t talon when i was 16 and then i sold that the day I bought my GSX when i was 18.. But unfortunatly I pay for my own shit so i kind of had to wait... I didn't have to ask my daddy for some money to by a car.. I worked my ass off and still do for my hobby.. Im at work right now as a god damn matter of a fact. LOL.... New years eve and new years i work... oo ya an go to college full time..

If you parents have the funds get a GSX.. They need an instant 300 bucks into them in maintance at least.. Thats if you know how to do a timing belt yourself...

Anybody have any suggestions on where to look? State/City? I would like to stay within 800 to 1,000 miles on Minnesota please. LOL

Thanks.

Believe me, I don't listen to my friends anyway. LOL No issue what-so-ever.

Thank you. And for all who care, I know how these cars can be, being I have read the stories and stuff........ Oh and I'm getting my act together BTW anyway... So, don't worry about that. Racing is for the track... That is where it will stay... Oh, and yes I have one near me...

Welcome To Brainerd International Raceway

I wasn't interested in dsm's until a few month's ago. The first vehicle I had was a truck I wanted. A 1994 dodge dakota. I had 4 12" power acoustic fubr's in the back seat. I had what i wanted. Than I had a 93 4x4 v8 dakota. Than I had a nissan 240sx.

And the reason why I think your not ready is because I lost a good friend of mine due to how you are thinking. Telling me my opinion doesn't matter. There's no need to get snappy and get defensive. I had a good friend die. And trust me it's harder on the one's around you than it is on yourself. You'll be gone. I don't want to hear about a dsmer being young and dumb like we all are or once were and getting hurt real bad or worse. Dead So next time before you decide to try to be a punk, think about why people are saying this. Trust me not a day goes by i wish me and my friend could be cruising along in our car's and going to car show's. But we don't anymore.

I only get defensive because I have had people tell me that before and it's annoying. I hate double staturders.

But sorry about your friend... And trust me, I'm not like most people, I know a car has power, heck, my mom's Grand Prix has power, and used wrongly, it can hurt people...

I'm 17 now, 16 when I got my 1998 Talon TSI AWD 5 speed. Im from wisconsin but me and my dad drove to minneapolis to go pick the car up. Got it for 2900. It had 144k miles on it, a new clutch, needed some work but overall its a pretty decent car. Always discovering new things i dont like such as rust and broken clips and such when i'm taking the car apart. As far as being young with a some-what fast and cool car, just don't drive like most other teens do. I've yet to be pulled over at all or in any sort of accident. If you are one of those kids thats going to think that your going to be some sort of speed demon then don't buy a turbo DSM because for a 16 year old its a pretty fast car.

No worries, I won't. I'm not a "speed demon" anyway.... And if I were to ever go fast, I could kiss the car goodbye because my parents are just... we won't go there, but I'm not stupid in that sense...

I may be a mental retard when it comes to anything else but common sense, that is a strong point for me.... Kind of. LOL

idk man im 17 so i know where he is coming from kinda., but even then i think an AWD turbo... not a good first car.. you'll be upset when you wreck.. pretty much everyone wrecks there first time although i have not KNOCK ON WOOD  my GS is an upgrade from my first car.. a MINIVAN.. so your first car is not always your first choice but now i have enough experience to where i feel confident driving my car. even though i must say i am no angel. 120mph on a public highway was def scary... haha but i got it out of my system and am looking to upgrade to a gsx or even a gst would be fine. so again if anyone has a gst/gsx non running or running gimme a shout ;) :thumb:

I was in the process of getting a 1997 GSX but the dealer sold it before we could get it, (like an @$$)....

Even if I were interested, I wouldn't go to Cali... I mean, not for a shell.. Sorry....

that one has been wrecked in the front before...just FYI thats an OEM style aftermarket front bumper...if it is a 97...looks like a 95-96 to me? or a NON turbo

I flew from Baltimore Maryland on THREE flights to get to colorado to test drive my 98 GSX bone stock...paid $7000 cash in hand for it. The guy was just happy to get the money he cooked me steak and let me crash in his guest bedroom cause there were no hotels with rooms...cost me $950 to ship it...ouch

Got mine off ebay last year. Paid 7k for a GST Spyder with 49k miles. Bone stock. Never seen snow or salt. Garage kept. Had a small oil leak (valve cover) and the top was slightly broken which was an easy fix. Got it from a local BMW dealer. It was a trade in. they had 11,500 sticker on it at the dealer. So I feel 7k was a great deal for the condition of the car. Still looks new. I was the only one to bid on it.

Check ebay. I know I have seen many gst spyders on ebay. Most if not all are the auto trannys. It seems like the spyders are a little harder to get rid off. keep that in mind when looking for a deal.
