recently i've got my built 420a up and running reliably, it has eagle rods and wiseco pistons at 8.8 compression
this winter i plan to slap an ebay turbo on it, im looking at a To4e with a .50AR. and another with a .63AR, my question is will these wuhan whistles actually spool and does anyone have experience with them? im also going to put a filter on the oil return because I don't like the idea of sharing my oil with a crap turbo. I'm not looking for anyone to say i need a $1000 garett to make 7psi. I just want to ask about experiences with chinese turbos and what size I should go with.

The biggest issue with the Chinese turbos is longevity. They usually "work" but it's just a question of for how long. I've bought several engines and/or cars that had china turbos on them and they all burned oil. Most of them were fairly new. The one car I got really cheap because the guy had replaced the turbo and said it blew up his engine. Well it wasn't the engine that was blown. It was his turbo consuming massive amounts of oil and making the engine smoke.

At 7 psi you'll be fine with just about any turbo. But its hit or miss how long it will last.

I'm running a nice big ebay turbo on 8 pounds. I haven't had an issue I'm sure the more I try to squeeze out of it the shorter it's life becomes. Just make sure to restrict them so you don't blow the seals from to much oil pressure.

I had ebay garrett gt3582ar on 1.6L (4g92) sleeper lancer, running with 11psi, running on e85, with denso 1000cc injectors, big fmic, civic "half size" radiator, exedy 6 pluck clutch, straight pipe with one muffler, Megasqruit v2.2 standalone, as far as I know it's still running just fine on new owner, showing they're not all bad but it is like russian roulette... will you get a good unit or not, 9/10 times it will run good about 1-3months and it just dies, had those too

Put aside the differences between the eBay knock-off turbo and original, this plan that you will put a filter in the oil return line may be a bad idea. You may end up blowing smoke.
