Ebay Manifold

Picked it up for test fitting for 90 bux. Plan is to flip it for top mount. Any thoughts. "Note" this is for a Starion swap so its a rwd platform.

The problem I see with ebay manifolfs is that the quality of the metals the runners are made of is very cheap and usually extremely thin, which is why you see a lot of people complaining of cracking. Your best bet is to buy two flanges and research a little on what thickness the reputable companies are making their manifolds out of and get some of that tubing. Since you are fabbing anyways it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Probably wouldn't cost too much more either.

Do it once, do it right.

It is a Megan T3 manifold so I think the quality is decent but I agree that the fabrication is so much that you might as well do your own thing that fits best for your custom setup.

Yea but right now in the mock up stage 91 sounds a bit better than 800 for a manifold. Thinking about using the ebay version thru the mock up build to running then having one built later by a friend who makes them

Fab isnt much to flip it. Cut the head flange, flip and reweld.

I think it sounds like a good idea for your build, all the piping will be easier to route as well, and we all can't really argue, for the money it's a pretty cost effective manifold.

Not sure if you fully thought this through, but you do know that bottom mounts places the turbos in a lower position and if you just flip the head flange the turbo is going to be pushed up into the hood, the complete opposite of a real topmount. However, im not sure what your clearance situation is with your rwd setup.

Here is an example of a top mount that depicts this. Notices how low the turbo flange is? The way you are doing it will place the turbo flange above the head flange.

I'm sure he will just cut a hole in the (looks great anyway) Suckin in the cold air but watch for rain.

I have had experience with modifying an ebay manifold. it was very thin and once welded always cracked below the welds. it never held for more than a couple of passes. even if you get the angles correct and the height correct, I do not see it lasting very long.

buy flanges and fab your own as suggested. it will cost you less time and money down the road. this is why the manifolds made by PR or Fatfab are so expensive. they are built for your specification and the last.

Friend is a welder and will be making a manifold for me now. Bought a CNC flange last week after buying a HE351.

but.. Megan isn't actually good quality.. their welds and fitment are pretty shoddy.
Says the guy that has an O2 housing and downpipe from MR.

Nice, so what kind of housing do you have or plan on getting for that HX35? Bep is something to think about if needed btw!!!
