Ebay Manifold?

eBay Motors: Turbo Manifold DSM Eclipse GS GS-T GSX w/38mm Wastegate (item 110248016717 end time May-05-08 14:22:37 PDT)

What do you guys think? Is the waste gate any good? Anyone tried it, anyone willing to?

Thanks

Ok, you really need to think about his.

1: A real wastegate will run you $250ish. That is more than this entire setup.

2: A manifold, one that is of quality construction will run you $300 and its cast.

So.. do the math here. Manifold which cast runs more than that one plus wastegate which runs more than that, combined for $160? Its called CRAP.

I would not trust my turbo or my engine on a Ebay wastegate, what happens if it doesnt open or stays open, you have wasted your money. If you dont have the money to buy quality parts and do it right the fist time, stop modding and or sell your car because this isnt the game for you.

Sorry about being so blunt but you could have searched for your answer, hell.. a little common sense would have told you its a dumb idea in the first place and most of us here on these boards are tired of answering the same question several times a week.

In other words, let stop :beatentodeath:

That manifold is a joke and corny with a little shine. That manifold will crack or break apart with a doubt. You can do better on a ported 2g manifold. Oh I didn't notice is came with a wastegate. LOL... Tial 38mm wastegate itself are in the $200+ range.

This is a quality setup.

Manifold & O2 Housing $885ish
Wastegate $250ish

Now compare that to the Ebay paperweight you are considering.

They didn't take pics of the collector side for a reason, worst porting job ever. And it's even more hideous in real person :( i'd stay away.

I see how you got bashed.... sucks... anyway, like everyone else says, you get what you pay for. I currently run an ebay header.. shit, for as cheap as it was i could go through three of them before i touched the price of a nice name brand one. for the wastegate... well, That is a more critical part, if it fails, your screwed... if your header fails... not a huge deal. just a pain. You can always try the header, but personally for a crucial engine part, i'd rather pay the extra buck to have the peace of mind that i have quality parts where they are needed most. But think about it, alot of the stuff on ebay is ripoff no name stuff, the reason isn't always poor quality, some things are just made cheaper in other countries. Such as shotguns, I have a shotgun i paid 500 bucks for. It was made in Russia. It will shoot just as well as any american gun or any browning out there. they cost 2000.... Sooo hey, try it out. you never know. just be weary. A double cheeseburger down the road from me is $1.. In D.C there $5..... The exact same burger.... same name, different location.. so hey. GL- peace

I think I agree with the guy above me, but I'm not sure haha. Basically, it wouldn't be a bad idea to try out the manifold, the worst that could happen is that the welds crack in a week, which is more than likely to happen. As for the wastegate, like everyone else is saying, stay away from that and spend the extra money to get a proven one because if that fails, a lot of other things can fail. Good luck with your decision, and if you end up getting one let us know how it does.
