easy question but im new at working under hood? help please

Alright my car is driving horrible and the lifters are really loud. im replacing lifters. What do i need. here is what i got so far. anything else?

lifters
valve cover gasket(just valve cover) do i need others?
oil
oil filter



changing oil after i do this. How do i do about that. should i drain the oil then change lifters and put valve cover on and put in the oil or should i put all together use old oil for a couple miles then change it. And sorry for asking more then one question in one thread but should i soak new lifters in oil for 24 hours or not. and if you no alot about changing lifters in 420a pm so i can ask you questions. thanks alot guys.

Best way is to just get in there and look around.. Pop that vc off should take you 10 minutes.. The least youll get done is replace that old beat vc gasket.

I'm changing my lifters next week. I'm not soaking them in oil or anything just put them in. It will tick for 10-20 mins but it will be fine. Just let it idle until it stops. Are you using the tool to do it or are u taking out the cams?

I dont have the tool. Im just going to use screwdriver. Do you no were i can get the tool. send link please?

and how do you get the rocker arms back in. do you just knock them in easy with screwdriver and light hammer or something?

I don't know anything about the 420 a's but I'm assuming it should be the same?

I don't know about the 420A but in the 4g63 if you don't bleed the lifters you're likely to bend valves.

ya im going to bleed them. should i soak them in oil first or just get them out of box dip in oil then bleed and stick in. and after i get all together do i have to do anything before putting valve cover on and after that what do i do.
