easy hood vent

ok. so ive done some experimenting with lowering intake temps.recently ive cut out the thin piece of sheet metal under the intake filter behind the passanger light along with wrapping my manifold. this made a notable difference. next im wondering about the weather stripping on top of the firewall. when i pull that off and park the car there is a noticeably good amount of hot air coming out right infront of the windshield. so my question is has anyone ever done this? does it work will it be good for the car?

I have seen this on a couple Dsm's before and even a few at this years shootout.
Image Search "hood spacer" on Google and you'll see several other car styles using this method. For the moment a good picture of a dsm using this method eludes me.

Others have used longer bolts and washers on the hood latches to raise the hood.

That is the exact worst way to do this. The cowl is a high pressure area. You want to do the exact opposite and make sure its sealed as best as possible.
