getting a eprom ecu for a 90 eagle talon . reason why i want one is to get by the fuel cut 16 lbs. im pushin 14 pounds but i think i can go higher. So im wondering if i get ecu with a eprom if i can get chip to stop the fuel cut unless there is another way. If there is can someone tell me please.

The only way to eliminate fuel cut is via changing the test in the ECU porgram by swapping the EPROM. That said, keep in mind that fuel cut is a reaction to the ECU seeing Mass Air Flow above a set limit and a simple boost leak can trigger it.

so if i have something that eliminates the mass sensor . then i won't get boost cut. A vpc would eliminate it correct? thanks forthe help chief

no, nothing short of a chip change eliminates it. Things that lie to the ECU might keep you from hitting it but at the expense of timing changes that go along with the ECU thinking it's under less load that it actually is. The VPC and some versions of the MAFT have additional issues in that they often limit the max airflow signal they will output.

All of this is well covered in the archives here.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you need a bigger fuel pump, not a ecu, well not yet anyway. The 16psi fuel cut you're speaking of is due to the pump.

hmm. i'll have to check the archives i only searched the forums for information. but thank you for the help

The ecu doesn't know what fuel pump he has in there. He could have the biggest pump available in there, and it doesn't mean shit as far as fuel cut is concerned. Once the ecu sees a certain density of air, it's gonna cut the fuel. No matter what other mods you have. Unless, of course, you have something to tune with.

I'm saying his stock pump will not support anything higher than 16psi. With upgraded pump, I don't see fuel cut until 21-22 psi.

Yes, with a bigger pump, he will be able to run more psi. But that doesn't matter to the ecu. He's still gonna get fuel cut at the same point.

I don't think he hit fuel cut, his pump was probably starved. I'm running bigger turbo than he with stock ECU.

Well I wasn't talking about if he was hitting fuel cut or not. I was talking in general. And anyways, his fuel pump shouldn't be completely starved on only 16psi.

isn't fuel cut usually around 17-18psi?

the only way to change this is by getting a socketed ECU, or better yet, DSMlink if you are planning to put down some major power.

p.s. we have the same problem :D
