I cant seem to figure out how to wire my subs, originally I was planning on purchasing a SVC sony sub. The guy ended up sending me 2 DVC Sony subs which are worth much more than the single SVC sub that I won over ebay. The problem is they are 380W RMS each, and my amp is 300RMS at 4 ohms, and 600 RMS at 2 ohms....

Using RF's calculator....

The only way to wire 2 DVC 4 ohm subs gives me a 4 ohm total, which is only 300 RMS from my amp...the other way gives a 1 ohm total, but I don't think my Sony amp lets you use it at 1 ohm safely.

If I wire a single DVC sub in I can get 600 RMS from the amp...

Is there any way to get around this and get the 600 RMS then split it 300 each to the subs?

You can either get a 1ohm load or a 4 ohm load with 2 subs that are 4ohm DVCs.

If the subs you had were 2 Ohm DVCs, then you could wire them like this for a 2 ohm load:

If your subs are rated at 380Watts, then they are rated for 190 Watts per voice coil. If you hook up just one voice coil from each speaker, your amp will put out 600Watts at 2Ohms, but only 1 voice coil per speaker will be getting power which will be a total of 380 watts. It would be the same as just hooking up one subwoofer.

If you want to get 600 Watts from your amp, you need to have 2 subs that are either 2 Ohm DVC or 4 Ohm SVC. If you want to keep the subs, you can look for a 1ohm stable mono amp that puts out 600 Watts RMS @ 1ohm.
