an owner of a turbo diesel once told me that turbos act differently on diesels he said when the fins spin it force injects gas through the turbo into the motor. then next time i saw him he said his turbo makes a whistling noise and its because the fins in the turbo are froze up and he needs to soak it in carb cleaner for 24 hrs. sad thing was this guy is my cousin. hes a teenager and no matter what i said he was right probly sum bs another punk teenager told him.
 
So i just moved into my new house, and I'm meeting the next door neighbor for the first time. He's watching the GSX come off the tow truck, and says nice car, i asked are you a car guy too? He said "i sure am, I've done 4 wastegate changes on my Mazdaspeed protoge this year"......I said "really"? he kinda left me speechless.
 
A Autozone gem

Car has been actting up pretty bad (stalling on its own, running weak, lack of power, got worse when playing the radio), so I'm thinking power related. Time for a new battery right? I lump to AZ and the car dies in the lot and I just coast into a spot. It borthers the hell out of me to waste time so I pop the hood n pull the battery, bring in the store with me. Stand in line behind one person for 20mins (Why the hell is there never anyone in the front?), finally my turn and they check the battery. It's good. "Ok must be your alternator, put the battery back in and I'll be out there in a sec."
I already know how this is going to go but I toss the battery in all buttoned up. He comes out awhile later, checks the alternator which also checks good. "Hm, you got any cels showing right now?"
Um, you do remember I just pulled the battery out right? Of course I don't have any cels.
"...Oh yeah..."

I'm guilty.

I just put a new turbo on. Along with oil lines, etc. After it was on I went to start it, and it started, bucked HARD and died. Tried again, same thing.

I checked all electrical connectors.
I checked for spark.
I checked for fuel.
I checked mechanical timing.
I checked base timing.
I checked compression.
I tightened up the intake manifold bolts.

Still, same thing.

I walk over to the car, look at it hard.

Omg. Every t-bolt clamp was loose on the GM MAF.

The PSI compounding on turbos only happens if your running a compound setup.

And if there is a Civic running a 7 second 1/4 mile, I bet you its RWD with 1000hp+. 500hp in a FWD Civic you would maybe be in the 11s with a good driver.

Remember that an empty can of coke weighs more than a civic, 500HP with the right tires/suspension/weight reduction can get it into high to mid 10s with the correct driver.
 
my point is it's more of an NSX pretending as a civic, if i remember right it's a full tube chassis with an NSX motor and as fake civic body... if that's a civic still, a NASCAR camry is still a camry

the fastest civic that still is a civic is in the 8's
 
Thanks to Fast n Furious, the NOS trademark will never be the same. I mean that in a bad way. And if someone has to ask if NOS will make them fast, tell em it will get the car to lawn ornament status real fast! :)
 
I was pulling into my local walmart parking lot the other day. I see three ricers sitting near the back of the lot, so I park near and walk past to sneak a peek. One had a clean looking Civic hatch, one had a beat to shit multi-colored 240, and the other had a 2G N/A Eclipse. All are in their teens. I'm walking by and I hear the Eclipse owner say to the Civic owner:

"Yeah, well my car has EVC, It's the same as VTEC, just made by mitsubishi"

At first I'm like WTF then I'm like ROFL ROFL ROFL
 
I talked to an advance rep last night. They dont have crush washer size for the turbo lines. They dont know what the part number is for the fog lights. And they dont have the alternator belt in their computers either.:banghead:
 
When I first got my GST, two of my friends who own Audi and Mercedes made me open my hood because in their minds, a 6 cylinder always has and always will go faster than a 4 cylinder. When I opened my hood they examined around and one of them said "You lied man, you have no turbo!" The other said, "It's right here man," and he pointed to the BOV. I shut my hood and went home.
 
about 2 years ago i had a 96 gs shell for sale on craigslist. when the kid came to pick it up he arrived in a 95 talon lowered, exhaust. so during the process of writing up the bill of sale, i asked him what he had done to his talon, he repied, "oh a lot of work" he walks over and opens his hood revealing the 420a with an autozone short ram intake and blue wire loom. he then starts to tell me about all the internal engine work that i couldnt see. high compression pistons and port and polished head. when he was done lying to me he peeked across my driveway into my garage where my gst was sitting on jackstands with the hood off, you could clearly see my neon green valvecover that was mounted on the drivers side of the engine bay, and says,"woah! is that a fourty-two-O-A? (yes thats how he pronounced it). I said ummm, no. he asked what i was doing to it, so i gave him a list of my mod intensions and he said ill race you when your done. by this time i couldnt take this ridiculousness any more and i laughed in his face. he came back with, "I guarantee ill beat you because talons are faster than eclipses from the factory and i have work done" the only thing i could say was, ok

Isn't it funny how even DSM owners assume the Eclipse and Talon are different cars? I think I posted in this thread that some kid told me my Talon was a POS because the American assembly workers messed up the aerodynamics. He just wouldn't accept that his 96 Eclipse was also built by Americans.
 
So I go to autozone today. While the guy is ringing me up for my lower rad hose he notes its for a dsm. He then proceeds to tell me he 'had' a EVO 8 with '865 all wheel horsepower'. I said "holy shit that's a lot, how much money did you have in it...about 30?"

He says "nah I put about 20k into it."
At this point I don't believe any word he's saying..he works at frickin auto zone..

So I ask him if he's a member of toledo tuners (local group) or whatnot and he says "no, I don't give away my secrets"
He hands me my change and I'm like "k dude....see ya" and I walk out the door trying not to laugh.
 
Everyone around here that "knows about cars" tells me Eclipses all come with v6s and Talons are always AWD and twin turbocharged. I just wish I knew where there info was coming from. Shoot the other day some guy at walmart tried to convince me he swapped a 3.0 V6 3G motor in his 2G N/T spyder. He popped the hood and I tried to spend 20 mins explaining to him how it was the 2.4 4g64... people these days I tell ya. I also hate how people automatically think because Mitsubishi is a Japanese company that my car is JDM.

Oh worst thing yet guys.... Pulled into school after completeing the conversion:

I would expect this, but there is a girl at my school who drives a Talon. So its not like they've never seen one. Also the look on thier faces when the car still runs after I put me keys in my pocket and walk away WTF I love my turbo timer :D LOL

So, now im thinking, this kid is even more retarded he comes to buy a eclipse shell from you then brags about his 150hp beast, then says the talon is faster than an eclipse? you should have just been like WTF:shhh::beatentodeath: then :tease:ROFL

maybe the carfax? haha because i remember going to that car lot place to look at a 2g and i wanted to see the carfax and it said 24valve 3.0 v6 for the 2g, after showing me the carfax the guy is asking me what i think and keeps trying to persuade me to buy the car, so i ask him more about the car, and he explains it off the carfax, when he finished, i just got up and started walking away and he was trying to follow me to get me to buy the car, i just stopped and turn and:tease: and when he asked me why i laughed, i told him, dude why would i buy a car that has never had a v6 for the model you are trying to sell me and, why would i buy it from someone who couldnt tell me anything about the car but read the carfax to me let alone the carfax is all wrong.. ?? so thne i jsut left never ewent back to any of those types of dealers haha.
 
Too be honest, I think a lot of people confuse DSMs with 3S cars, hence always thinking its twin turbo V-6 and what not.
 
The 1g I could maybe see confusing it with a 3000gt. If you're not familiar with cars, and they do have some similarities body styling wise. But I can't say that a 2g looks even remotely similiar to those cars. Lol.
