Plan for the worst, hope for the best. Even if you dont need to put new rings in right now, its smarter to rebuild the engine now while its apart then do this 6 months or a year from now. That motor is tired and beat and wants a new life.

I would definitly change it all now that the engine is out then have something go bad and have to start over......goood luck

I've purchased a rebuilt shortblock and have a head that was rebuilt a few thousand miles ago and will be assembling the longblock with it, installing all the ancillary stuff too. (I replaced the clutch, clutch hydraulics, updated HLA's, starter recently). I have a Big 16G to go on as well.

This seems like a really thorough parts list. Thanks for putting it all out there! I went to extremepsi's site and found it all, and the prices are low compared to the other places I've looked.

If anyone sees anything missing, please speak up.

(I hope this doesn't seem like a hi-jack - I searched for a thread with a thorough parts list for a rebuild and install and thought this was the best. Nothing like recycling to make the search results more condensed!)

Thanks,
Pete
