Dual BB 50 Trim VS Green

He's referring to the difference in cost between a typical internal gate option on a larger turbo and a Tial 38mm.

Ah, 10-4 on that.

I ran into a guy here with a 2G GSX and FP Green. He claims to have gotten 500 whp on stock cams. Is this possible? I thought that thing was a 50 trim.

Just curious (as I have had neither) but what makes it sound that much different different?

Most Internal WGs do not seal 100% at rest: valve seat is not very good not to mention the usual cracking around the WG seat. So with a dumped Internal WG you will have an open exhaust sound all-the-time. And when it does start to open, it's sounds like a dump truck's exhaust brake.

An external WG on the other hand has a good valve/seat, sealing the exhaust 100% of the time it's not needed to regulate boost so do not know it's even there until you reach your target boost level.

The External also seems to act as a mini-muffler smoothing the release of exhaust gasses thereby reducing the turbulance (noise) much more so than an internal WG setup can. At least that is the way it's been with both setups with my 50trim.

As for a 500WHP 50-trims, several have done it with well-modified engines and large turbine housings, though if that is your target, there are better (more efficient in that airflow range) turbos out there :dsm:

I've never experienced an internal gate/external dump not sealing when off-boost. Once they're opened, they sound about the same to me. Maybe you need a louder stereo :D

I think alot of it has to do with the size of the external wastegate and where it's mounted. I have my TiAL 38mm mounted off the #1 runner (SBR manifold) and its loud as hell when it was dumped. But then again I've heard cars with the 38mm external run off of the o2 housing and it's not bad at all.

I recirculated mine for about $8 by welding a small piece of 38mm pipe at a 45* angle on my downpipe, and then running 38mm flexible exhaust tubing from the WG to the pipe I welded on my downpipe.

Well, I have a dumped o2 housing on the way for my 16g (a good deal I couldn't pass up)

It should solve my boost creep, but I hope it isn't overly annoying. I figure, if I hate it, a machine/weld shop won't charge me too much to swing it back to the exhaust.

I could get a mini muffler for it, haha :D

Yeah, manifold mounted gates are definitely louder, and they sound like a lawnmower unless your flange is at the collector.

I currently run an o2 dump on a evo 16g. I don't hear anything until full boost. I love the sound of external wastegate/o2 dump. for those who think its annoying, u must hit full boost every block.

dam evo3 and its boost creep...guess ill be picking up a pte bb 50 trim.

Honestly, its a tough decision dude. The green is nice, but the 3052 is a heck of alot better. I say, if your on a tight budget, go with the 3076r, otherwise, save up for the 3052

I don't see how "the 3052 is a heck of a lot better". The green flows around 49-50lbs/min while the 3052 flows 52lbs/min. I don't think that the extra 2lbs/min is really worth all the extra money for the 44mm, o2 housing, etc. They also both spool around the same time.
