Hey guys, this may be in wrong place but here we go.... Just purchased dsmlink and a plx wideband off 98gst14b(thank you), and was wonderin a few things, how far back should i put wideband? Should i pop in front and simulate the narrowband for ecu? I wanna get this correct before i try and do a log so any help is much appreciated, no spell check on phone hope its all rite LOL
 
It says 36 inches down the dp but i think thats absurd ive never heard of someone overheating the sensor. the closer to the turbo the better the reading. I would put it in front of the flex section in the dp.
 
Straight from PLX:

Mount the wideband oxygen sensor before the catalytic converter and at least 24 inches downstream from your engine block or turbo for optimal performance. The sensor element will fail if it is exposed to exhaust gas temperatures above 850 deg Celsius. If you plan to replace your stock narrowband oxygen sensor with the PLX wideband, please read PLXApp004 online for more information.

I also herd 36 inches as well, which I think that is what AEM recommends for the UEGO.
 
You can simulate narrow band in the factory location, people do it all the time without issues.

bNasty is right though, 36" is really inconvenient, most people go closer and don't have problems.
 
I've still never read about a WBO2 sensor dying from heat. I keep an eye on these threads, if anyone ever does have an actual first hand example please post it!
 
Well, FWIW, innovate (lm/lc/etc), plx, aem, etc. all apparently test their products. Bosch does for sure and they claim that heatsinking or space is required. . . And well, my bosch 5 wire failed over the years of abuse withOUT a copper heat sink. . . It did take a while. But it DOES fail. Needless to say, I have a nice fat copper heat sink directly infront of my wired-on coolant fan.
