dsmlink @ wideband?????

ok i just got a new .50 trim with headers and wastegate and i know i need to get injectors and all that stuff but i also need dsmlink and im so confused on all of it. i have a 95 eclipse gsx and iv been told that i need wideband and dsmlink so i went serching for it to figure it out. i dont know what the wideband dose but i kind know what dsmlike is and i was just going to get the v3lite but i dont know what injectors i should go with and what to do with the maf so if u could give me some feedback on what dsmlink and wideband is it would be helpful. and idk if i have an eprom ecu or what? im also confused on that. when i got the car i was told it was already socketed witch m thing thats for the dsmlink.?

Hey Chris, its Joe.

DSMlink is a tuning device where you can adjust injector dead time, maf compensation, fuel trims, timing, etc. It is a complete tuning system. Since you are planning on DSMlink, buy larger injectors than you need so you dont have to upgrade again if you want to upgrade your turbo again or turn up the boost. Buy at least 1000cc's.

You will want a wideband when tuning, a wideband is a secondary 02 sensor that relays an accurate air to fuel ratio. There are sales for AEM UEGO widebands for $200 shipped, check out the vendors forum.

As far as a MAF goes, just keep the 2g MAF for now. It will be plenty for the 50 trim, unless you really want to vent the BOV you could go with a GM MAF and translator setup. DSMlink (both full and Lite) have speed density support so that is another option as well.

Your ecu is an eprom and I did have it socketed (and the caps replaced) so it is ready for DSMlink, whether you choose the full version or Lite. Hope this helps.

You dont need dsmlink, a wideband should be one of your first mods.

A wideband actively displays your air to fuel ratio's. which mean's it tell's you if your motor is running rich or lean at certain rpm's.

650's are plenty for the 16g, but you will also need a fuel pump (at least a 190lph) and a logger/safc combo or DSMlink to tune.

You dont NEED dsmlink I mean its REALLY nice and useful but a safc will work although i'd recommend dsmlink over the safc due to greater amount of control, better visual display and when you go bigger you will be set. Personally i'd get 880cc, they can keep up with your set up and will work with e85.
Also i there's some threads about finding out about your ecu situation.

And obviously iugrad92turbo you can understand what he's saying so put you red pen away this isn't english class.

The Dsmlink is always going to beat the SAFC if you have the money to get it. And as far as the injectors you might as well go over kill if you are getting link. Link is a better buy in the long run because the SAFC wont control anything over about 750cc's efficiently, unless you get a chip flashed for your ecu

Get as big injectors as you can get, with link you can compensate for any size, so 1000cc+ will be just fine.

And on a serious note, you have NO NEED AT ALL TO BUY ANYTHING. unless something is broken.

It really sounds like you need to learn all the basics. Concentrate on maximizing the car as it is and learn about everything.
Next you should buy all supporting mods before a turbocharger. ie DSMlink, injectors, fuel pump, AFPR.

Then upgrade the turbo and other things.
We all know you wanna go fast, but you gotta crawl before you can run.

umm i'm pretty sure i go most of the supporting mods. the only thing i don't have is, Dsmlink, wideband, injectors, and fmic. If there is any supporting mods i need that u don't think i have please let me know. I never knew it was a crime to ask a question.
