my 90 talon tsi fwd is up and running after 9 long months of sitting... i bought from the original owner 2 months prior to it being involved in an accident and now it looks pretty damn good... went with a mono-color champagne scheme as opposed to the two-tone (i'll post pics soon).
anyways.. this is my first DSM and 9th car overall and through reading around i've discovered that there are some things that should be replaced for a tune up that wouldn't be an issue in my other cars...
here's what was done yesterday:
-oil change
-tranny flush
-radiator flush
and will be done today:
-spark plugs
-plug wires
-dipstick (mine blows out under stress - i've read all troubleshooting posts and i'm pretty sure i have a good motor with a bad dipstick as it still is the original.)
-pcv valve (i doubt the original/first owner ever replaced it)
i hold boost fine... although it takes a while to build up to the 9psi... i'm also running a full tank of gas - half 9 months old and half brand new. i'm gonna burn it up and put in new gas before putting on my MBC/other parts besides my intake and making and sound judgements about my motor. oil pressure seems kind of low (while running it is at a 90 degree angle.. if not, angled slightly towards higher pressure and idle it drops to the low range). i'm guessing this is normal. 9 months ago i did a boost leak test and replaced the hardened injector seals for an easy fix.
anyways.. what do you guys think about my tuneup plan? am i missing anything? what do you think about the oil pressure levels.. normal for a dsm?
thanks!
