I'm working with a '95 TSi with a new ATK rebuilt engine. The car has had a high and erratic idle since the swap. It drove fine with some gas. I made the mistake of buying a cheap MBC, and I found out the hard way that it didn't work. So, I ended up running it around 22psi on a stock fuel system trying to figure out how to turn the thing down.

One day, I go to start it up, it turns over starts and dies after a few seconds. This continued for 9-10 attempts, and then it throws a code for camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction. I replaced the sensor (the stupid under the intake cam gear design) and put it back together. The car still doesn't start. I also put in a walbro 255 HP because I found my fuel pressure to be to low. I also ran a compression test, and got 0 compression through all 4 cylinders.

I have a feeling the guy that put in my engine had timed the engine poorly, but would it have run at all if that was the case?

Also, the timing ruined my last engine as well, could this be an ECU issue?

if you got zero compression through all 4, its likely you bent all valves, time to pull the head and inspect it, if not bent valves could have burned the valves or pistons running lean at high boost, or possible blown head gasket between all 4 cylinders, pull the head is the only way to be sure.
