All you need to do is call your local PD, they will tell, they SHOULD know. They're cops, afterall.

Since I was 16 and a brand new driver, my insurance has been $110/month for liability at State Farm. For full coverage on a 1999 GSX, I was quoted $270 a month. Big price difference OMG

If you don't like popups, you can make em stay down ;)

98k on '93 laser . . . i wonder how much that fella paid for the 1g with 4 miles on it . . . wonder if he would be willing to sell it . . . hmmm . . .

I'm 17 with 2 tickets (none of which are for speeding), and I pay $300 every 6 months ($600 a year). But I am on a policy with my 19 year old brother with a 91' Camry, so that may help. Also the car is in my brother's name I believe.

my cars at 107,000 and the timing belt jump and i had to get my head redone while im at it and replacing my timing belt what else should i replace the pulley? tensioner?

Everything that you can think of that is under there. Pump, tensioner, and maybe even your oil pump. It always sucks ass to have to redo something because you missed something small. I would even make sure your cam gears are in good shape as well.

I am in the process of buying an eclipse with 100k miles. I have been told by everyone, including friends, mechanics that mistubishi are trash. I am aware that the RS contains an engine made by an american company?

I am also aware that engine swap is not as easy as honda. I am wondering where you can buy a complete 420a engine in case the engine goes bad?

I don't think the 420A has as many issues as the 4g63. So you shouldn't have too much to worry about. But yea junkyards have all kinds of n/t engines. it's the turbo ones that's hard to find.

Unless you (or the previous owner) do truly abhorrent things to that motor, it's only now finishing its break-in phase, and is approaching the midpoint of its service life. You'll probably never need a new one.

I bought my 99 GS 3 years ago. I have since driven it 83,000 miles.(yes I drive A LOT) The only problems I have ever had are batteries, hoses, belts, and spark plugs. These are all normal maintenance so they are expected. Just don't beat on it and do what you should at regular intervals.

You would be happier with turbo however, and the same rules as the above would apply here. Take care of it, and it will take care of you.

I was thinking about buying a turbo kit for my 95 RS maybe a star stage I or a stage II hahn racecraft turbo with a FMIC..anyways my head is fully rebuilt because I snapped my timing belt going down the road and I kinda dinged up pistons 2 and 3 but the guy at the shop I took it to said the pistons would be fine and it wasn't like they were dinged up that bad just like a light scrape from the valves ramming into the piston anyways I got my head rebuilt but my bottom end hasn't been touched and pistons 2 and 3 are still in the same shape I was wondering should I build up my bottom end before bolting on a turbo because of the pistons or would I be ok if I run a low PSI like 6 or 8psi

Personally I would suggest a rebuild before spending 3 grand on a turbo kit. And you make it sound as if you think 8psi is nothing for a turboed 420a.. that's a lot of boost for the compression ratio you'll be running.

ya I hear alot of people saying they are running at least 10psi and over in their turboed dsms and I wanted to at least run 10psi...but 6-8psi didn't seem all that much to me..but i'll probably start out with 6psi then...and I will probably end up rebuilding my bottom end thankz for the help...

Factory Turbo's DSM's can run higher psi because of the way the engine is built, low compression and oil squirters and such. The compression on a 420A is so much higher though that 10 psi is a LOT on the stock bottom end. If it is not in perfect tune it will not hold together very long. Personaly I would do the rebuild first becuase that 6 psi is only going to be fun for a week or so and then you will get bit by the boost bug and start turning it up. A bottom end is not to expensive though and a worthwhile investment.
